Baumann is trying a little too hard with the socks, the 77, the sidewind.

That's what I was gonna write. I wish Degrom didnt start because then, this game woulda been over hours ago.

I suppose a 14th inning stretch would be a bit much, so no...

Please take a strike, Wecki.

Josh and Howie saying that this is where the game was lost.

I'll find out tomorrow, but why was P'weki in the game? I asked earlier,
but people do tend to ignore me which is fine.

Plawecki started at first.

Degrom pitching for this team reminds me of--- how does that expression go? A silk hat on a pig?

It's almost as if he'd be better off being on a contender, and we'd be better off having a boatload of prospects.

So basically, this offense is waiting in frustration for Brandon Nimmo to come up. Then if he makes an out, being especially disheartened because you won't see him again for 2 innings.

Having flashbacks to some of the teams in the 70s - after one or two hitters there was nothing to wait for. I knew it wasn't possible for the other hitters in the lineup to generate any runs.

Not ignoring, just didn't know the answer. Both catchers were in the game. When Gonzalez pinch-hit, Mickey left him in, moving Weck to catcher. Perhaps he was thinking that (a) as long as somebody has to come out, he might as well not ask his catcher to continue squatting indefinitely in a marathon, (B) in a tie game, you can tighten up that defense by replacing a catcher at first with a former gold Glover in the person Gonzo.

This strategy, if indeed it was his strategy, didn't particularly hold when Gonzalez (to Howie's description) waved feebly at the two-run hit that effectively put the game out of reach for the Mets.

Past his bed time?

I bailed after the bottom of the 13th,I figured I had suffered through enough and went to bed. Besides, when I looked at the bullpen options (Rhame, Bautista, & Sewald) to pitch the 14th inning, I had no desire to watch the expected carnage.
