I use to clip the standings after Opening Days in the '70s and save them just so I could remember what it looked like to see the Mets in first place.

I waas flippin' back & forth between the N'awlins - Nashville game and the Yankees - Rays. The first thing that struck me was the obvious difference between a major league telecast and a AAA one. Whew doggie. Fun watching Humber but I had more fun watching Yankee fans boo ARod and seeing Jeter make (another!) error.

Ever see 'The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings'? It was a '70's movie about a barn-storming baseball team made up of black players in the late '30s early '40s. This discussion reminded me of it because Richard Pryor played a ballplayer who was black but used a Hispanic name and told everyone he was Cuban because he felt it gave him a better shot at playing in the Major Leagues.

I'll stop short of saying these ads encourage mistreatment of kids but there is definitely a similar theme of the taunting of youngsters running through both of those ads. Are you kidding me with that slogan? They didn't even try to camouflage it. They could've written 'You've Got To Believe' but they went right to the trademark! Calling Centerfield...

I'll buy that but I'm still shaking my head at it a little. If it were Johann Santana and not Kip Wells I would've been fine with that, runs may be harder to come by, yadda yadda....but the fact that it was Wells and it was the first inning and there were no outs and it was the top of the order....strange choice.

Okay I've got a question. I thought y'all might have addressed this in the IGT at the beginning but surprisingly (to me at least) no one brought it up. First inning, Reyes on second no outs. Why is LoDuca laying down a sac bunt? It's the first inning, he's my #2 guy, I've got my meat coming up, why am I giving up an out to move a runner to third in the first inning? I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to baseball stratagem and I understand the upside of scoring first, etc. but don't you go for the big inning in that situation? Especially since its the first inning?

We were wondering what it was and I'm betting it was that fire.
