  1. Describe the error please. Slowly and with great detail so I can revel in it.
  2. Glavine 3 LoDuca 2 Delgado 1.5 Beltran 1.5 Green 1 Valentin 1
  3. Was in Tampa this past weekend and went to the Yankee-Tiger tilt rather than the Mets-D'Rays (horrors!). It was a gorgeous day and who the hell wants to sit inside? Observation: Yankee fans can't catch foul balls. Will of course be at Opening Day at The Big Shea on Monday.
  4. Sorry - 5:00 shitstorm at the office... Numbers 6 & 9 are the Lee brothers, Carlos and Derrick respectively.

  6. metsmarathon wrote: yes, 9. sorry. wtf?!the rankings of the incorrect guesses would be a fun thing to add to the game. Here: 11 Berkman 12 Ramirez 14 Morneau 15 Utley 17 D. Wright 18 Abreu 20 Suzuki 23 Jeter 24 Guerrero 26 Hafner 27 A. Jones 28 Cabrera 39 Damon 51 McCann 57 Mauer
  7. 1. Pujols 2. Soriano 3. ARod 4. Reyes 5. Crawford 6. 7. Beltran 8. Howard 9. 10. Ortriz Who are the missing players!? I'm leaving my office at 5:00. If they aren't guessed by then I'll post 'em.
  8. 1. Pujols 2. Soriano 3. ARod 4. Reyes 5. 6. 7. Beltran 8. 9. 10. All but two have been named. Crawford, Ortiz and Howard need to be ranked correctly (or according to SI). ="metsmarathon"]i cheated. 6 and 8... are you f'n kidding me? Well, they did say that 'role on his current team' plays a factor... Oh, and you meant '6 and 9...are you f'n kidding me?'
  9. 1. Pujols 2. 3. ARod 4. Reyes 5. 6. 7. Beltran 8. 9. 10. On the list: Crawford Soriano Ortiz Howard

  11. McCann and Ichiro are not in their top 10. The categories considered for position players were batting average, home runs, RBIs and stolen bases. We also took into account each player's career stats as well as his role on his current team, his prospects for improving or declining, his injury history and his current physical condition.
  12. 1. Pujols 2. 3. ARod 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Players named that are on the list but not put in the proper order: Howard Reyes Beltran Ortiz Soriano Edgy - pitchers not included
  13. In the baseball preview issue of Sports Illustrated they ranked current players from 1 - 400 (pitchers not included - they did that separately) based on their PVR (Player Value Ranking). Here is their criteria: We ranked the position players in the major leagues from 1 (the best) to 400, based on our projections of their statistical production this season. The categories considered for position players were batting average, home runs, RBIs and stolen bases. We also took into account each player's career stats as well as his role on his current team, his prospects for improving or declining, his injury history and his current physical condition. Using these criteria, we determined each player's value ranking, or PVR. My question: Can you tell me who the top 10 players in MLB are according to SI's PVR? Extra Credit: Put 'em in order.
  14. -Is Pavano a genuine question mark for the Yankees or was he simply injured and now that he's 100% physically is he the same pitcher he was when they signed him? While nothing is a sure thing, every pitcher coming off an injury is a large question mark I realize that this is a valid point but it has always been intriguing to me. Think about it - a big healthy kid in his mid 20's is at the top of his game. He hurts himself, has surgery, heals, rehabs. Then he comes back ostensibly at 100% physically. Why then is he not the same performer he was previously? His body is 100% recovered. He's young and healthy. Did he forget how to do what he used to do? Of course not, he'd been doing it most of his life. It's been a season, maybe two since he last was as healthy. So why then are a lot of these guys just not able to do what they used to? Sure some can and do but why not all? Baffles me. Johnny Dickshot wrote: --what new batch of SNY commercials will have Met fans gagging by mid-May and suicidal by August? Don't know but the other day in the booth Keith and Gary were alluding to them both being interpreted as cartoon characters and hinted that the general populace would soon find out what they were talking about.
  15. That's crap. The criteria isn't 'shit that ScaryKitty cares about' is it?
  16. -Wright's response to his decreased power numbers in the second half last year -Will LoDuca and Valentin be able to repeat last year's performances? -Is Pavano a genuine question mark for the Yankees or was he simply injured and now that he's 100% physically is he the same pitcher he was when they signed him? -Was Papalbon a one-hit wonder? -Are the Dodgers really that good? -How about the Braves? -Ditto on Zito.
  17. Wow. Two pages on this! I thought I was going to log on this morning and start a new thread with 'Omar's Great Job in the Booth Yesterday'. I thought it was excellent. I agree with Bret/Ira/Sal that the 'youknowhati'msayin'?' drives me up the fucking wall but is it really that much worse than Steve Phillips ''there'snoquestionaboutit'? I think not. Anyhoo I noticed Omar's rambling answers but attributed that more to the fact that being in a broadcast booth during a game a knowledgable person is aware that you have to talk to use up time. I think that Keith and Gary were looking for long-winded answers and I liked hearing the whole thought process. A 'yes' or a 'no' would've been really annoying. From what Omar said you got a real feel for what goes into these decisions and exactly whose opinion is listened to when making those choices. I especially like the whole 'Wright batting second' discussion and loved, loved, loved when Omar asked Mex what he thought. I found those two half-innings very enjoyable AND informative.
  18. Cool, thanks.
  19. Interesting. But do you think that means that an error in the field, be it it throwing or non, is simply classified under 'fielding'?
  20. The box score differentiates?

  23. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I'd prefer to see Gary, Keith and Ron do each game. And I'd be able to see pre-game and post-game shows and whatever else SNY offers. That's a good bonus. That was the one thing I missed watching Extra Innings. The game would basically begin on the first pitch and pretty much end right after the last out.
  24. Yup. 'Havoc'. Bijou Phillips too. Ms. Hathaway also had a scene in 'Brokeback Mountain' in which the integrity of her character would've been severly comprised had she not gone topless in the backseat of a car with Jake Gyllenhall. A true artiste is what she is.
  25. I never bought the theory that nobody recognized Superman simply because he put glasses on when he became Clark Kent. You want to conceal an identity you have to work harder than that.
