  1. Times sez exactly what Metman does - they're just bolstering the bullpen for tonight and will swap out Lino for Sosa on Saturday.
  2. Hard Hittin' New Britain.
  3. soupcan wrote: $5 mil for a 25th man? ="Johnny Dickshot"]what remains on a guy's salary is the last thing to consider ="Gwreck"]It's not like we couldn't afford the money. I'm not saying I wouldn't like it or that they shouldn't pay it, I'm just saying that management probably feels (rightly or wrongly) that its probably too much for them to pay for the last guy off the bench.

  5. Wow. Um, I guess I was wrong.
  6. Color me an ignorant vistor. Okay then how about 'The Tampa Strip Clubs'? Take that 'natives'.
  7. Huh. I don't recall anyone being so passionate about the loss of Kris Benson.
  8. I dislike taking state names in lieu of the cities that the teams play in - and don't even get me started on 'New England' Patriots and 'Golden State' Warriors... Names that are better than the current ones: Phoenix Rattlers (Arizona Diamondbacks) Denver Bears (Colorado Rockies) Miami Marlins (Florida Marlins - there appears to actually be a groundswell for this one btw) Tampa Bay Ibises(?) (Tampa Bay Devil Rays) Washington Senators (Washington Nationals) Dallas Cowboys (Texas Rangers - why not? St. Louis did it.)
  9. Edgy DC wrote: This forum pretty much immolated after the trade that brought Maine here. How do you mean?
  10. I saw Saltalamacchia playing last night on TV. The name on the back of his jersey went from elbow to elbow.
  11. As Edgy points out though, how hard can this job be? Any personal trainer at New York Sports Clubs is qualified for this deal. Supposedly Miller didn't believe so much in pitchers running to increase their endurance so he didn't push them to do so. Whether or not that played a part in the HammyGate I don't know, but professional athletes, especially the vets, who know their bodies should know that the routines they've followed their entire careers should most likely be continued. And how do you blame Miller for Hughes? I think Omar should forward Mackey Shillstone's number to Cashman. Maybe Mr. Slate will give him a leave of absence from the quarry.
  12. Perez 2 Beltran 1.5 Reyes 1.5 Chavez 1 Gotay 1 Smith 1 Wagner 1 Wright 1

  14. Are you still waiting to see what happens?
  15. Game over. Mets win. Wagner gives up a harmless single but otherwise does a swell.job.
  16. End of 8. Enter Sandman...
  17. Delgado leads off with a walk, red-hot Wright struts to the plate...
  18. Reyes gets Howie excited by turning a DP. To the bottom of the 8th...
  19. It says he goes to the Marlins with Milledge for Cabrera. Or to the Astros for Oswalt!
  20. Goin' to the 8th, still 6-3.
  21. metirish wrote: Omar recruiting Cabrera? He was jus axin' him if might be open to plain secon bass. Jew know what I'm sayin'?
  22. Joe Smith gets Jacobs to add to the K total and end the inning.
  23. Wright gives it back as Howie tells me he should have caught the line drive that he doesn't and allows 2 runs to score. 6-3 good guys, Perez is out of the game with 2 outs in the 6th.
  24. Wax statue offically returned to Times Square. 6-1 thanks to Mr. Wright.
  25. WP moved the runners up and Endy sniggled 'em in. 5-1.
