I can guarantee you that should the Cubs go down 3-0, they ain't gonna win the next 4. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I don;t often buy into "character" arguments like this but Mike F. Francessa of all people yesterday noted a key difference between the Mets & Cubs is our side has a lot more experience and whatever added value that Crusty Veteran Savvy provides. We got plenty of distinguished elder statesmen like Grandy, Cuddy, Colon, Uribe, Johnson & Wright. Their side only has old farts like David Ross and veteran fuckups like Fernando Rodney. I think Houston didn't hold on in part because they were just younger and dumber than Kansas City. What do you think? I think that veteran presence stuff is vastly overrated. What does the veterean teach you - to focus more in the postseason? Talent & luck baby, talent & luck.

  4. It was cold but if you were dressed for it, it was fine. I saw zero lines at the ice cream stands. Every concession stand/store was SOLD OUT of any type of ski hat. They said they sold out on Saturday night. Very cool how at a game like that in the midst of a nice post-season run, that everyone is in a great mood. I didnt even see Cubs fans getting razzed that badly and if they were, it was the good-natured kind. Fun to be a Mets fan in this City again.
  5. Gotcha. Thanks. I figured it was something like that. I do greatly dislike the two boobs on WFAN in the morning.
  6. This is a thing?

I remember the Mets hit 4 straight doubles to start the game, and everyone would jump up to cheer and then bend their necks down so they could see what was happening. 'Letterbox'. Perfect way to describe the view from those seats. Great view of the field but once the ball rose above the player's heads, forget it. No idea where it was unless you watched the fielders moving towards it. As to postseason attendance, my first game was Game 5, 1981 WS in L.A. The game where Gossage beaned Cey. I think I've been to at least one game of every Mets postseason series since except '86. Didn't get a chance to get to any of those. Worst one was Game 5, 2000 WS.
  8. Just got my Game 2 invite. I'll be there.
  9. Apparently Syndegaard threw about 5 innings worth in the pen in L.A., so Terry equated it to a start. If he's (Syndegaard) feeling similar soreness that he would after a start, then he will not start game 2. These are quotes from Terry.
  10. Lefty Specialist wrote: Syndergaard may not start game 2 because he warmed up a million times in game 5 in LA . It'll depend on how he feels today. Had to be done because deGrom was constantly on the ropes and they had to get here first, but Matz in game 2 would be disappointing. That's what the papers are saying this morning about Syndegaard. Depending on how he felt today, Collins was going to decide. Sounded to me like Matz will get the Game 2 call though.

  14. What about Uribe? Was t he going to be re-evaluated after this series anyway?

Even if Jimmy Rollins had the opposing pitcher in his lineup, it's not like him striking out against him 3 times is going to move the needle much, and certainly not with any certainty.

  18. I have no soul. Of course I want to see the Mets in it and win it, but I don't really have a preference as to the opponent.
  19. Seriously. What the fuck with Parnell? Has he gotten anybody out this entire season? Neise too. I wouldn't be surprised if those those lame 19th century hipster beards have something to do with it.
