  1. Buncha jackasses.
  2. You know those posters that were semi-popular a few years back that you would have to cross your eyes, un-focus and stare at in order to see the 'hidden' picture? Yeah, well I could never see the picture. However the 'm' & 'b' in the Brewers logo and the 'M' in the Expos logo? I mean really? You guys can't see those? All of a sudden I don't feel so retarded anymore.

I can't imagine MLB would allow that. However.... OE: On second look - nope, I'm incorrect but their nipples are covered with some patch or something. Excellent KTE btw.
  4. If memory serves I believe I saw Dennis Cook do it and picked off both the guy on first AND the guy on third.

  6. Here's a game - try and figure out who each guy is just by looking at the (sometimes iconic, sometimes not) thumbnail photos representing each guy. I didn't count as I did it but I'm thinking I got maybe 75%. Bud Harrelson threw me.
  7. Hernandez: "Wow, what a lambasting." Hey Keith, 1930 called, they want their vocabulary back.
  8. So how many Mets is that whose first ML hit was an HR?
  9. Very cool! That was fun to watch!
  10. It's on in southwestern CT.

I walked up to him, same manner chuckling and smiling and saying how it was pretty bold to be wearing that shirt around these parts. Kid stared at me blankly and didn't respond, the mother (or a woman whom I'd assume was his mother) scurried him away as I was explaining what I was talking about, saying, it looks like he's a Braves fan. Her response while walking away was "No...no...he's not." Almost as if the kid had real stupid DB shit thrown at him that was worse than a simply saying it's a bold move to be wearing that shirt in this town. also possible, Jeets, that she saw an older guy talking to her little boy and made another protective assumption. I would say that that is EXACTLY what she did.
  12. Methinks I have a new favorite Met.
  13. I think I was at the old Yankee Stadium maybe 3 times for baseball games (the first Yankee/Met interleague when Mlicki pitched and a Yankee playoff game against the Rangers in the early 90's, or late '80s? Don't remember any others but there must have been at least one) and I saw a U2 concert there. I've been to the new place once and that was for a Syracuse football game (2011 Pinstripe Bowl -v- Rutgers) so I need a ruling on whether or not it counts.
  14. You could be right, but right or wrong you are the biggest Mets fan ever. God love ya. Sandy should hire you.
  15. Edgy DC wrote: [*]Reyes made clear by his second half last year that he was protecting his health by playing a diminished level of aggression to protect his marketability. I don't know - yeah maybe, but I can't really fault a guy for trying to protect his career. When he was 100% he was always full throttle for the Mets. At least I thought so.
  16. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Not getting caught up in it though as I can't believe they'll even finish .500. Would love to see it, but can't believe it....yet.
  17. Loving that kid in center.
  18. Tim Foli. The rumor was that the basketball coach at the high school I attended my jr. and sr. years was Tim's brother Ernie Foli. Don't know if it was true, but I believed it.

It really does put them up there with the Cardinals, Dodgers and Giants. And if the pinnies and road grays are the best or near-best in the league, then the blacks are a negation of that, and therefore, an abomination. I'm not a supporter of of the bluetops either, and consider it an accidental gift that the Mets failed to file their homework on time or whatever in order to make them a regular choice this season. For one, we've been down that road 1983-1985-ish. For two, a solid color base speaks of softball, not baseball. For three, it portends a dangerous vulnerability to that uniform creeping into position to become the new standard. For four, again, it's a negation of a wonderful aesthetic ideal. Yes, yes, yes and yes!

  21. Centerfield wrote: I don't necessarily miss the black uniforms, but I wasn't clamoring to get rid of them either. I guess it was time to retire them, but I never minded them. They reminded me of the late 90's and I thought that was cool. I think they wore them too often recently, but I thought maybe once a month it would be cool to see them. I hope they bring them back on throwback day or something. On the other hand, I really miss the black drop shadow on all the uniforms. I think it made for a cool effect. I will be upset if they get rid of the snow whites. Those and the road grays are my favorite Mets uniforms. But the one thing I feel more strongly about than anything else is that ridiculous orange dot on the top of the blue hat. If you're going to go back to tradition, go all the way. Get rid of that fucking dot. Does this not bother anyone else? How can they mess with that blue hat? It was perfect the way it was. I get that you don't like the orange dot and I respect that. It doesn't bother me in the slightest and I don't know what exactly offends you about it, but again, I respect your dislike for it. However...how you could possibly like the black uniforms or the black drop shadow (or really even the snow whites which I simply tolerate) is so far beyond my comprehension. The pinstripes and the road grays without the drop shadows could contend for best uniforms in the league. It really does put them up there with the Cardinals, Dodgers and Giants. We're classic again and that's a good thing.
  22. ...and why the heck wouldn't they at least put him in the pinstripes? It's the little things you know?
