  1. Mets fans far outnumber Marlins fans here. Quite a lineup. I've seen more regulars in early spring training games. The Marlins city edition uniforms are sweet.
  2. =Ceetar post_id=64895 time=1621551416 user_id=102] And they lost out on Springer too. And Bauer. Money could've gotten those done.
  3. Out of the game but back on the bullpen mound to throw some more.

I ordered tix online last night and think I got the last three. I tried to buy five, then four, and three went through. Last seats in the last row in the bleachers. Park is 21 percent capacity allowed.

  6. =G-Fafif post_id=64756 time=1621459498 user_id=55] Jacob will make a rehab start with St. Lucie tomorrow.
  7. Saw him play in the minors. Was a big deal when he arrived. Sure did bounce around a lot.
  8. Rennie Stinnett, stalwart second sacker for those great Pirate teams of the 1970s and author of a 7-for-7 day at Wrigley Field, 72, from cancer. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN197509160.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN197509160.shtml https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51nlna7e3JL._SR600%2C315_PIWhiteStrip%2CBottomLeft%2C0%2C35_SCLZZZZZZZ_FMpng_BG255%2C255%2C255.jpg> I was forever getting this card in my 1973 packs!
  9. Did anybody have Pillar and Villar as the darkhorse Mets? I love the spark Villar, in particular, brings.
  10. "Baseball sucks, and here's how I'm planning to fix the game" by Rob Manfred
  11. I was a Mets-obsessed 9 year old when Mays retired, but I remember watching "Willie Mays Night," and hearing him say, "Willie, say goodbye to America" as if it was yesterday.

  13. Two intense players had a disagreement that got a little heated. No one got hurt. BFD. I'm ready to move on.
  14. Good for Bobby V! I hope he wins.
  15. I got my yearbook in the mail this week. I think the player portraits are exceptional. At first I thought it was odd that there wasn't the usual sections about events of the last season -- but then I remembered what last season was like under COVID. I thought the Seaver coverage was a little light. There's an "in memoriam" page at the front, which serves as a kind of dedication, one page with a paragraph and another about the patch. I guess I was hoping for something a little more since they had time. They could have reprinted the beautiful Faith and Fear in Flushing post (with permission, of course.) I did like the page about the owners through the years. Mrs. Payson was quite the bad ass in her time. I was surprised she was only 72 when she passed. I guessed that seemed really old when I was 11. Not so much now.
  16. Chili was in a tough spot for being one of the last men standing from the Brody/Mickey era. I get that managers and GMs want their own guys in there. And when the $341 million guy isn't hitting, it becomes easy to make that change.
  17. Well, that sure looked like strike 3.
