  1. Edgar Martinez and Junior Griffey with the ceremonial first pitches -- with Mariners Hall of Famers Dan Wilson and Jay Buhner catching. Nice touches!
  2. Lots of Rangers in the starting lineup.
  3. White pants on the American League look so much better. Healthy boos for the Astros!
  4. The pregame player intros are my favorite part. This is a new and different way to do it, with members of the same team emerging from the outfield gates together. I kinda like the jerseys -- but those black pants are awful.
  5. NL has lost the last nine games. Time for a win!
  6. That was a microcosm of the whole season so far. High expectations. Lots of hype. Mediocre results.
  7. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=130756 time=1688473133 user_id=119] Nimmo might still make it. There are usually a number of guys who beg off due to injury. Pete's an elite power hitter and a derby fave, so I can see him getting the nod. I think Lindor is better than the Braves shortstop who is starting. I love the All-Star Game.

I would've said "Gott Flexen?" and that was basic Martino said the Mets might do a number trades where they can take a bad contract, release the player and eat it. I wouldn't have thought Flexen would have a bad contract, thought.
  10. Immaculate Grid 88 9/9: IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Flint native Scott Aldred was my ace for the center spot!
  11. Immaculate Grid 87 9/9: IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 I like to work in Mets, and lots of Metly content today! Gary Carter, Al Leiter, Tom Seaver, Damion Easley, Ellis Valentine -- and Steve Renko, who played for the Mets in the minors and was in every pack of 1973 Topps cards I opened.
  12. Immaculate Grid 86 9/9: IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Back-to-back days! A fun Metly connection, too. I have to avoid reading this thread before I play the game. You guys are giving away answers!
  13. I almost forgot how to get to the library. Finally some books!
  14. =MFS62 post_id=130051 time=1687884022 user_id=60] In 1948 - Ralph Kiner hit home runs every Sunday for eight successive weeks in May and June. Later
  15. Immaculate Grid 85 9/9: IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 My first time getting them all.
  16. Immaculate Grid 81 7/9: 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩⬜️ 🟩🟩⬜️ Once I realized there were multiple answers for each question, it got better for me!

Been to 22 parks: Defunct: YS 1 and 2, RFK Stadium, Memorial Stadium Baltimore, Veteran's Stadium, Shea, Joe Robbie Stadium, Turner Field Active: Citi, YS3, Fenway, Citizens Bank Park, Nats Park, Camden Yards, PNC Park, Pac Bell Park, Dodger Stadium, Petco Park, Busch Stadium, Wrigley Field, Rogers Centre, Miller Park. It is never too late -- and gives you an excuse to go back to some parks! There is one book with stadium-specific pages, and you stamp it once for each place. That's aimed at the people who want to see all 30 -- and he updates it with insert-able pages as new stadiums are built. The other has pages without the stadium histories and such that can be used for any park. So each time I go to Comerica or Guaranteed Rate, I use that same book each time until I fill lit up. I'm on my second minor-league book because I go to more minor-league games.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I recently did a count, and I've seen regulation major league games in 18 different stadiums, and eight of them are still "active", if that's the correct term. Defunct or inactive: Shea Stadium, Olympic Stadium, Yankee Stadium II, Memorial Stadium, Fulton County Stadium, Riverfront Stadium, Veterans Stadium, Hiram Bithorn Stadium, Comiskey Park, Tiger Stadium. Active: Citi Field, Fenway Park, Camden Yards, Nationals Park, PNC Park, Citizens Bank Park, Safeco Field, Wrigley Field. I've seen minor league games in Brooklyn, Norfolk, Reading, Oneonta, Durham, Knoxville (two different stadiums), and wherever the Carolina Mudcats played. Plus spring training games in St. Lucie and other sites in Florida and Arizona. I once had the goal of seeing games in every major league park, but I lost interest as many of the parks I had already been to started going away, and my desire to see baseball games that didn't involve the Mets dropped to about zero. That's cool! I need to make a West Coast trip to get some of those! Active: Citi Field, Fenway, Comerica Park, loanDepot Park, Great American Ballpark, Citizen's Bank, PNC Park, Nationals Park, Wrigley, Guaranteed Rate, Busch Stadium, American Family, Progressive Field, Rogers Centre, Target Field, Coors Field. I've had the Minute Maid tour but did not get to a game. I got a hard hat tour of Camden Yards when it was nearing completion. Defunct: Shea, Yankee Stadium, Milwaukee County, Cleveland Stadium, Comiskey Park, Joe Robbie, Veterans Stadium, Riverfront Stadium, Busch Stadium II, Memorial Stadium, Tiger Stadium. I had a tour of the Metrodome, and snuck into the Astrodome.
  19. =metirish post_id=129475 time=1687436583 user_id=72] That's really cool, never heard of it, 42 is for Jackie ??
  20. Per Edgy's request... I don't know if anyone else in the Pool does this, but I've had a lot of fun with MLB Pass-Ports. (Yes, I know passport is typically one word. The hyphen is in the brand name.) Each stadium in the MLB and affiliated MILB has a stamp that looks like a postmark, with the date changing in the middle. With the books, when you go to a game, you stamp the page and fill out information about the game. It's a fun way to keep track of the games you've been to and the stadiums you visit. A whole community as built up around this, and it's nice to encounter people with the books and talk about stadiums. The Mets, by the way, are one of just two teams with a special 42 stamp. https://mlbballparkpassport.com/https://mlbballparkpassport.com/
