  1. The Mets qualify as a way under, no?
  2. AG/DC wrote: It's hard to call somebody with that long a career in the National League, plus managing all three National League teams he played for, a Yankee through and through. It's not hard at all. His NL managing career was undistinguished and before the time of eight ESPN channels, screaming talk-show hosts, and the Internet. And the memories of his playing days are probably largely forgotten relative to the recent Yankee stuff. In any postseason in 1996 or after, you couldn't turn on ESPN without seeing Torre crying about the last Yankee playoff game. Like it or not, Torre is a Yankee through and through and through for most of the baseball-watching world.
  3. I do too. "It's only one game", but when your 150 million dollar ace is going I figure it's important to win the series and avoid the split.

  5. OBP: .376 (Career: .368) SLG: .355 (Career: .357) OPS: .731 (Career: .725) If he keeps giving us his career numbers I'll have to apologize to him.
  6. Is that true? Never? Is it just against the Dodgers?
  7. Fman99 wrote: Be yourself. I thought your jokes were funny. Of course I'm getting called out for using the same profanity and threats over and over again. Whatareyagonnado? You're not being called out for using profanity. You're being called out for sounding like a 12 year old that just learned a new curse.
  8. ="AG/DC"]Having trouble keeping two thoughts in my head. The missus is showing me our potential future houses on the other computer. I'm unable to convince her that the Mets need me to help save their season. Priorities, baby. http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?id=1273732 11:09: Mark Grace gets his third hit of the game to start the ninth. Big hit. Dave Dellucci runs for Grace. Of course, the Sports Gal comes downstairs at this EXACT MOMENT, asking "Who won?" and telling me about tonight's Emmy's telecast. Note: My buddy Gus calls this sequence "Pulling a Jackie," in honor of his wife, who has an uncanny knack for entering the room and starting up conversations during pivotal moments in any sporting event or video game, usually in the ninth innings or with two minutes to go in any third period or fourth quarter, and almost always with disastrous consequences. (This phenomenon is right up there with the Bermuda Triangle, the Loch Ness Monster and Breckin Meyer's career -- I don't know anyone who can explain it, yet I have at least a dozen male friends with girlfriends/spouses who consistently keep "Pulling a Jackie." It's like some silent radar signal goes off -- important game happening, big moment, must inadvertently sabotage, must fluster my boyfriend ...)

Then again, I'm dealing with three ultra right-wing "ends justify the means" types, including one (one of my cousins) who did the same thing on a high school level (contact a school before a coach was officially canned). I was completely stunned when all three of them agreed that what Carter did was a good thing, and that Carter should have been given the job on the spot! Starting to wonder if I'm actually the sane one in the family... I'm feeling provoked.
  11. bmfc1 wrote: Dear Omar, Tatis was in AAA last year. Why didn't you call him up when the rosters expanded? It look like he might have helped! Sincerely, Mets Fans Good call. One big AB could've made a huge difference in many games. Though to me it was more about the bullpen sucktitude.
  12. KC wrote: Nice win, tomorrow the media will be all over the Mets for celebrating too much for a May win. Nah. I think they'll be glad the Mets are getting fired up and showing heart and guts.
  13. Straw with the plaid suit. Is it me or is he doing a good job as a studio guy? This is the first time I've seen him.
  14. AG/DC wrote: Tat: "I'm living a dream right now." Elster: Me too! Say hi to the gay dog-walkers.

  16. That's a great win baby!
  17. Gary's right I'll almost take a double play here over a K. Dammit Easley. Cut Delgado NOW!!!
  18. Fman99 wrote: NICE! Hit and run, line drive to left-center. First and third, no outs. It was not a hit and run.
  19. That's a lineout if Wright's not running.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Logan Kensing sounds like he should be hanging with Brock Pemberton at the Omega frat trying to dig up dirt on the Deltas. I was gonna say that.
  21. Gwreck wrote: P.S. -- Things I disagreed with: letting Evans hit. Don't forget we have a very depleted bench.
  22. Sanchez doesn't watch his bunts. Only Reyes.
  23. Beltran has a lot of heart. Anyone who disagrees is a moron.
  24. If this was 2006, Wright would drive Maine in. If it was September of 2007, Maine would pull a hamstring rounding third. 2008?
