  1. Pedro stopped pitching effectively after 100 pitches about five years ago. This is also the first regular season game he's gone more than 3 innings in since September. Can we shut him down please before he hurts himself again. Edit: And he shuts me up with two straight strikeouts. Edit2: But why is an oft-injured Pedro the only guy Willie is willing to stretch out. Shouldn't he be the last guy? Especially in his first game back? Or am I just overtired?

  3. Sometimes I mix up legacy kids. They all seem the same to me.
  4. Vargas 3.5 Heilman 1 Beltran 0.25 Delgado 0.25 Reyes 0.25 Castillo 0.25

  6. AG/DC wrote: ="Elster88"]Not sure why the second basemen on the Giants don't know how to position themselves for a DP. I'm pretty certain it's related to the Delgado defensive alignment. Good call.
  7. Lots of screams of pleasure from the crowd when Pedro flipped that hit into right.
  8. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Pedro just knocked Joba off the back page with that hit. It's probably too late for the papers? Sadness.

  10. Not sure why the second basemen on the Giants don't know how to position themselves for a DP. He couldn't get over to cover on Delgado's chopper. Vizquel tried to beat Tatis to the bag and the attempt also meant he couldn't throw out Delgado. I was about to say I'd prefer a Delgado strikeout to a Delgado DP in that spot. I guess it worked out.
  11. I was going to berate Tatis for flailing at the first two pitches like a child swinging at a pinata, but he turned it into a great at-bat.
  12. It's trendy to say the lineup goes as Reyes goes. But long-term it's always going to be about Wright and Beltran. I think it should be obvious given their positions in the lineup.
  13. metirish wrote: From Newsday. ] How did Joba Chamberlain's first start on Tuesday night go? Not terrible. Not great. It didn't last long, but it was full of heat I watched his outing but I must be seeing something different. He was referring to the heat coming from Hank's thighs. Didn't Hank just buy Newsday?
  14. Church runs down a ball in the gap that is out of most parks in center. He plays a helluva right field. Gary is flabbergasted that Willie intentionally walks Vizquel, who was 1 for his last 29.
  15. Line shot to left by Castro, caught. Grounder up the middle for Pedro, base hit.
  16. AG/DC wrote: Jose, why wasn't that ball caught? It's hard to catch with your head up your ass.
  17. Valadius wrote: Ok, I am convinced that Ollie is tipping his pitches. I'm not in the mood.
  18. I can live with Delgado as the #7 batter, which is where he belongs when Alou comes back. The problem is how many games does Alou play?
  19. Heckuva job by Vargas so far.

  21. Watching CarGo play against the Whores. The Whores were up by 1 in the seventh, and the Whore broadcasting team mentioned that Pettitte hadn't given up a home run to a lefty since last year. Two pitches later Mauer ties it with a homer. Twins take the lead in the eighth and hold on to win.
  22. Heard on the FAN that Church said he's not 100%. Seems like the Mets are living dangerously with this guy.
  23. Nymr83 wrote: ]So, he wasn't really THAT much off his career numbers last year. I think his failure was due more to misuse than anything else. yes, schoenweis can be an effective lefty specilaist, but the mets clearly didnt see him in that role when they gave him a 3 year multi million dollar deal. Using the word clearly in this manner rings an alarm. It usually implies there is supposition and guesswork, not evidence.
  24. Nymr83 wrote: working backwards and including the last 11 expensive multi-year deals, whether signed by the mets or acquired by the mets (so i'm treating trading for a guy with multiple expensive years left to be the same as signing that deal yourself) Now now, are you opposed to free agents or to anyone who has proven themselves in the past (thus necessitating big bucks). It sounds like you're now opposed to signing someone who has proven himself in the past.
