  1. Tatis -25 -5 for each man left on base. 0 for 0 hits.
  2. LOL at the thread title: Schaefer POTG 6/7/08 - Padres 2, Mets 1 (the Saturday Game)
  3. In my last post I said go with "blatant steals". Or that's what I meant to say. I'm not feeling especially coherent right now. I'm getting old.
  4. Blatant steals may be slightly stronger than what I meant but sure that's a way to put it.
  5. I don't blame Willie and I don't blame any lack of effort or hustle. Today's lineup featured Tatis, Schneider, Chavez. It featured Casanova in the key pinch-hitting spot (that I DO blame Willie for). Yesterday's featured Tatis hitting fucking fifth, and then Easely, Chavez and Schnieder. It featured Cancel in the key pinch-hitting spot (that I DO blame Willie for). The problem is that Delgado is just an average hitter now, Church is concussed, and Alou is Alou.
  6. That might speak to an overuse of Sosa more than an underuse of Wagner. It may also include a couple of long-man appearances? I'm not trying to mitigate the boneheadedness of failing to use Wagner today.
  7. Entering Saturday Vargas: 4.7 IP, 0.00 ERA Wagner: 24.7 IP, 0.36 ERA Feliciano: 24 IP, 2.25 ERA Schoeneweis: 24 IP, 2.63 ERA Smith: 23 IP, 2.74 ERA Sanchez: 22.7 IP, 3.97 ERA Muniz: 7 IP, 5.14 ERA Heilman: 30.1 IP, 6.23 ERA Wise: 7 IP, 6.43 ERA Sosa: 21.2 IP, 7.06 ERA
  8. Who said that it didn't?
  9. Cancel cancelled, Casanova back.
  10. Yabbut, LoDuca was really not special for us. I don't consider that a trade where the Mets reamed seomeone. I don't think ten years from now that trade will be remembered as such.
  11. Casnova back, Cancel down. Does MLB require a death certificate for bereavement leaves? They could call the rule the Costanza.
  12. When was the last time the Mets made a trade that turned out much better for one team or the other? I'm having trouble of thinking of many that stand out where it's very easy to say the Mets either did the reaming or got reamed. One is the Bannister trade. I think it's safe to say that the Kazmir trade also fits the criteria.
  13. Beltran is hitting the ball hard these days.
  14. They just showed Perez is at 6.45 walks per nine. Wow.
  15. That foul ball was a shot. It used to be Perez got in trouble with walks. He's getting lit today like his last game. I'm nervous.
  16. During a replay of the rundown on Beltran there was a great shot of the crowd going nuts when he was called safe.
  17. Perez is a decent hitting pitcher isn't he? I don't know why they walked Schneider there. Wouldn't you rather pitch to Schneider and Ollie than Ollie and Reyes?
  18. Keith showing his age making fun of a dude's haircut. Back in the game, Huber throws the ball about halfway up the first base line trying to throw out Beltran tagging from third. Ball squirts threw the catcher's legs and Delgado and Tatis move up. Huber shouldn't have even thrown it home.
  19. Gwreck wrote: It wouldn't have been high enough to go out in many places, and not deep enough in some, either. I can think of several off the top of my head: Miami, Yankee Stadium, Comerica. That ball would've been in the second deck in Miami, no?
  20. First and third no out. Tatis grounds to third, and the Pads get Bell Tran in a rundown. But Barrett holds it too long and Beltran dives under. Bases juiced.
  21. KC wrote: Yesterday I swapped in a new window air conditioner in the bedroom and when I put on YES this afternoon in there it was all garbled and choppy too. Slapped a good surge protector/power conditioner on the outlet that the new ac and that tv is on and everything works fine all over the house. ="metirish"]Nothing like Michael Kay to get things going in the bedroom.
  22. Is there ever a bad time to see those things? K by Reyes and weak grounder from Castillo. Picking up where they left off yesterday. And the day before.
  23. 24. The good news is Hoffman is terrible. The bad news is that it works out for the Fathers because their better reliever will face the heart of our order. I have no faith at all in Easley, Tatis, Schneider or Chavez. Ugh.
