  1. Gameday is slow too. I think that play confused the hell out of it.
  2. I'll have to watch that one on the highlights. It's hard to have two guys thrown out on the bases in the same play.
  3. Seawolf is happily forced to eat his own words?
  4. I don't pay much attention to other teams anymore, but I usually know at least one of the starters' first names.
  5. I feel bad I wasn't here before as part of the 17.In total there are 19 users online :: 16 Registered, 1 Hidden and 2 Guests [ Administrator ] [ Moderator ]Most users ever online was 26 on Mon Nov 04, 2002 7:31 pmRegistered Users: Bret Sabermetric, Centerfield, cooby, Elster88, Frayed Knot, holychicken, Johnny Dickshot, KC, metirish, MFS62, Nymr83, Rotblatt, ScarletKnight41, seawolf17, soupcan, Willets Point
  6. 5 IP, 7 H, 3 K, 1 BB for Benson, with 72 pitches.
  7. 5 IP, 3 H, 3 K, 1 BB for Armas, but he's already up to 93 pitches.
  8. I won't buy a rise for the Mets until I see some hitting for more than a couple days in a row. What did they have, seven hits in eleven innings? Five of which were from two guys?I do think this could mark the beginning of the end for the Nats.
  9. Reyes walks, steals second, goes to third on Cammy's bunt, scores on Beltran's groundout. Exactly how Willie drew it up.B-b-b-but, bunting is for losers!
  10. Is Tom Glavine going to make the Hall of Fame?
  11. I say let him bat first, especially since there is no viable alternative. I've never thought that this was a season to compete, but a season to improve. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see us getting a playoff spot. If Reyes bats first, he gets more plate appearances and chances to improve.
  12. ="Frayed Knot"]"Was Wright waving Anderson to third or Castro to second? Either way I think it was bad advice...I suspect he never saw how close Livan was to the ball."Anderson to 3rd I think. Problem was that Castro saw it and took off for 2nd before realizing that Marlon wasn't taking the advice. Youthful exuberence on yong David's part. More Castro's fault then Wright's. Look at the traffic before you run. Works when your on the basepaths or crossing the street.
  13. I don't have enough of a sense of the complete history of baseball, so all I can think of are the obvious ones like Jackie Robinson and Curt Flood. I would say Ripken, McGwire and Sosa from a recent standpoint helped bring fans back to the game after the strike.
  14. 1, 2, 71 in 2001.
  15. I don't understand what the ".500 W-L points" refer to. I thought at first that they were game numbers, as in if 2 was on there they would be .500 after Game 2. But some of those are consecutive numbers, so that doesn't work since you can't be .500 in back to back games.Edit: Or does each point mean the first possible point? As in the number 1 means 1-1? Now I realize it's pretty simple. I'm an idiot. Sorry.
  16. Wilson recommended Parnell, despite his 3-5 record and 8.86 ERA. Parnell struck out 45 batters, while walking 29. He uncorked 13 wild pitches and plunked nine batters. The scariest stat of all might be that opposing hitters batted a robust .330 against the right-hander. Those aren't typical draft-pick numbers, but Wilson insisted all that alarming arithmetic isn't a big deal. "Kids can't control the team they play for," Wilson said. "Besides, no big-league team drafts stats. They draft potential, and Bobby's potential is incredible." The first half of that statement makes little sense. I don't know how the team someone plays for affects wild pitches, HBP, or BAA.Of course, the second half does make sense, and so far he has been good. Good luck to your son.
  17. So what's the answer anyways?
  18. Found a place where MBTN and UMDB don't match.MBTN lists Lance Johnson at 222 hits in '96. UMDB lists it as 227, which I pulled for the list of hits in a season in the Where Mets Rank thread.
  19. Five stars, by the way.
  20. I liked it, a lot. It was about race relations, and explains that every person in every race has his/her own preconceived notions about other races, both good and bad. A good ensemble cast. I love Don Cheadle (as an actor). Matt Dillon plays a slimy creep (he's good at that, isn't he??), but become less of a creep as the movie progresses, when you see him acting like a human and coping with his father's illness. Ryan Phillipe's transformation was my favorite charcter arc in the movie, even if it was a tragic one (I think tragic is the right adjective). A Tony Danza sighting, too. I guess I'm glad he can still find work, even if they are small parts. As you can tell, I can't remember any of the characters' names, I was just thinking of them by their real names as I watched,. But I believe, perhaps strangely, that that was a good thing, because everyone seemed like Joe Smith or Jane Doe. I'm not sure how to explain those last two sentences any better. Also, a hot actress took off her top. I'm not sure if it was "tasteful nudity" or not, or if it was okay because it helped "develop the charcters", but I'll watch it again to check.Go see this movie. And please, after you do, write a better review than this one.
  21. I like the Player Memories a lot. I was surprised that all (or at least the ones I read) of the Memories of Vince Coleman where the person actually met him, they reported that he was "the nicest guy", or "couldn't be nicer", etc.
  22. I don't figure them for a fade, I just feel their win total for the year will be 81. If so, that will probably be my only corrrect prediction from our fun pre-season predictions thread from the other board.
  23. I think this game was important, simply because we had Pedro going. Have to win those when he holds the opposition to 3 runs or less. The Mets just don't seem to be hitting much. I don't blame Willie for anything. When you don't score over the first eight you don't deserve to win.
  24. Scan and post a scorecard, NOW.
  25. I like OO's sig pic. I've never seen that one before.
