  1. "You want me to drive?!"
  2. seawolf17 wrote: Are you all crazy? We owe the guy thirty million dollars after this year, and anyway, you can't trade a guy in the first year of a multi-year deal or he has the right to become a free agent at the end of the year. Wagner's not going anywhere. Well, yeah, I know it can't happen. But it'd be nice if it could.
  3. Seriously, why mention what and how he's eating?
  4. More defense for Wright or any baseball player really: Often times the questions are so stupid that there really is no deep, insightful answer possible. After the homestand, I heard a snippet of Wright on the radio, responding to the question, How do you feel about going 3-4 after such a hot stretch on the road and what went wrong? Paraphrasing his response: Sometimes you're going to have stretches like that. Of course we wish we did better, you always want to win more than you lose. We're happy we went out on a high note by winning the last game of the series. We're going to try and build on that tomorrow and go from there. Every line in there is a cliche, but every line is true. When some moron reporter asks, "Why did you go 3-4" what is the guy supposed to answer? "Uh, we didn't hit as well and we didn't pitch as well. You're not going to win 6 of 7 every time out. Dumbass."
  5. So there never was really any danger of him overrunning Beltran? Did he see him in plenty of time?
  6. ]Randolph reiterated that he might increasingly replace Paul Lo Duca with Ramon Castro for defense, as he did in the ninth inning Wednesday night. It was assumed Lo Duca would be a defensive upgrade over Mike Piazza, but some numbers refute that theory. Piazza had committed only two passed balls this season through 42 games, while Lo Duca has five through 53 games. Piazza has committed two errors, Lo Duca five. However, Lo Duca owns a substantial advantage in throwing out baserunners, eliminating 13 of 60 (21.7 percent) to Piazza's five of 47 (10.6 percent). . . . TORVO. Piazza's a better catcher.
  7. ]Wright, watching the ball touch down 415 feet away in the left-center bleachers, almost passed Beltran on the bases because Beltran was preparing to tag up. Did this really happen (Wright's first home run, the one in the fourth inning) or is the Post just being dramatic?
  8. When the guy has a two-homer, 4 RBI day on a day we win 6-2, I'll take it away from the guy who pitches an inning with a 4 run lead or the guy who goes 2-4 with no RBI and no runs scored before I take some away from Him. But that's just me.
  9. I don't feel like reading the article, but here's the teaser: ]GODZILLA'S REHAB RIGHT ON SCHEDULE By GEORGE KING Hideki Matsui's goal of returning from a fractured right wrist by the middle of August took a step in the right direction yesterday.
  10. Minnesota has won 9 of 10 to climb to one game over .500. Their problem is that they are 11 games back of Detroit and 10.5 games back of wildcard-leader Chicago.
  11. A good write-up of that play I was wondering about from the Times: In the fifth inning yesterday, Reyes led off with a single against Reds starter Eric Milton. With Chris Woodward batting, Reyes broke toward second. Woodward's grounder pulled third baseman Juan Castro toward shortstop, and when Castro threw to first, leaving third base uncovered, Reyes accelerated, reaching there easily. He scored on Beltrn's single.
  12. You misspelled "delicious".
  13. Some ball parks make a bacon-cheeseburger made with two Krispy Kremes replacing the buns. I haven't tried one yet. Which you can tell because I'm still alive.
  14. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I enjoy a Dunkin Donut. The name Krispy Kreme turns me off, and not only because of the awful spelling. Cream isn't supposed to be crispy. If it is, something's dreadfully wrong. Oh god. You are really missing something. Get one hot out of the oven. And call it whatever you want. You will not regret it.
  15. ="Frayed Knot"]"He's been fat for the past 20 years" I'm not talking fat, I'm talking needs to abide by building inspection codes large. They did an SI feature on him a few years back that cracked me up. I'm sure everyone remembers it. It was about his workout routine and what phenomenal condition he was in. The included pictures clearly showed an overweight, out-of-shape, middle-aged man lifting weights. The connective tissue in his right arm has not held together all this time because of workouts, but because of the steroids he's pumped into his blood for the past twenty years. Not that I have any real proof of that, of course.
  16. I thought so too. The "um" confused me.

  20. Hey Nowwwww
  21. ]Oh yeah, and Clemens is fuckin' HUGE ... draw your own conclusions. He's been fat for the past 20 years.
  22. ]The go-ahead 10th inning run came in when Miguel Cabrera hit an RBI single during an intentional walk attempt. They made a huge deal about this on SportsCenter.
  23. I don't drink coffee. I'll get a donut or something.
  24. I don't plan on looking through the archives for evidence, but I REALLY wanted BJ Ryan in the offseason over Wagner. One guy on the way up in his career, one guy probably just starting, if not already started, on the way down.
  25. 81 is a landmark. Halfway to a title.
