  1. The problem with Verducci's argument is we don't really know if Reyes scores so much because he is so fast or because we have some thumpers behind him in the order. I think it's more about his speed, and not Belgadight, but I don't know of a statistical way to prove it.

  3. I'd just walk around with it in the streets of some major city. And take it to bars.
  4. Yeah, those comparisons to Shaq and Bonds are valid. Poor Delmon. The media presence at those minor league games must be a killer.
  5. Sports Guy's review moved: Link
  6. Willie says he didn't start Milledge yesterday because he didn't think he could handle the breaking stuff from Arroyo.
  7. The NY Times says that Willie didn't start Milledge because he thought the kid would have trouble with Arroyo's breaking stuff.
  8. Both games ended with a score of 4-2 yesterday, and the lead over Philly is trimmed to 8 and 1/2.
  9. Thanks Rotblatt. If .333 is the league average, I'd say that is a good goal for Reyes for this year.
  10. That's cool.
  11. Glavine 3 Sanchez 3 Valentin 3 Beltran 2 Chavez 2 Lo Duca 2 Nady 2 Bradford 1 So Many Surprises 1
  12. The Red Sox are looking like shlubs on that trade.
  13. OHernandez 3.75 Beltran 2 Reyes 2 Valentin 1 Wagner 0.75 Chavez 0.5
  14. Grounder down the left field line right into the teeth of the no-doubles defense. Force out.
  15. Box score Reminder: El Duque = OHernandez or O Hernandez. No periods!
  16. And it worked out to be a good thing Delgado didn't bunt for a hit. If he had gotten on Wright's three hop single would've gone 6-4-3.
  17. The pitch right before Beltran's pitch was fouled off of the scoreboard out there in foul territory in right.
  18. If Delgado was ever going to bunt against the shift, that would've been the spot.
  19. Psst....everyone knows that. Don't rain on the parade.
  20. Feliciano's slider didn't slide, and the batter didn't move. Loads the bases for the Reds.
  21. Rain.
  22. Ball went under Freel's glove as he was cutting across, but Lopez was there. 6-3.
  23. Sounds urban to me....I don't know why Reds would be less-associatable with Communism then Redlegs. I like making up words.
  24. Interesting story from Cotter today. El Duque is proud of using English, refuses to use a translator in interviews. When he gets stuck (usually a few questions into his post-start interviews) Franco or Delgado will yell the translation from across the room. I'm interested in that kind of clubhouse stuff. How cool would it be to just hang out in there?
  25. Did Reds really spawn from Redlegs?
