  1. There must be something more than meets the eye in this Wigginton situation. Roids? Im not sayin that, just wondering. Hope not.
  2. Oh, i see poll now. I picked lets talk yrs and $$$. lets get into how much and how long.......... Id have to check what he was makin, what a SS of similar numbers is making, and Id like to give him 3 years. If he wants more, Ill still talk.
  3. mmmmmmm, this is a tuff and interesting one. Id need more info about the $$$ involved. If he has that projected year Id have no problem wanting to try and secure him for a number of years, with assurances of playing short. I think the Mets have pulled his chain enough already...( examples: "Here,....run like this" "Hey, I know we've trained you to be a shortstop, and youve excelled at it. Now go play second while we see if Kaz is MLB material"
  4. i didnt see any of Wigginton in 05, I dont think. But I remember noticing his numbers in 04. Im looking for them now and cant find em at CBSsportline. Guess they pulled em.....
  5. Bret Sabermetric wrote: ="Willets Point"]="Edgy DC"]It's hard to argue that this one hasn't been breaking the Mets way. You're just begging Bret to come in argue exaclty that aren't you? I don't think I can at this point. I'm trying to figure out how the Pirates--the Pittsburgh freakin' Pirates!!--could send Wiggy down to the minors, and then release him after he did okay at the MLB level last season and pretty damned spectacularly at AAA. Further I'm not understanding why no one's picked him up. Do you see minor leaguers with near .900 OPS being ignored like this every day? http://63.236.6.146/baseball/player.htm?ID=7100 Don't the Mets need a second baseman? Are his offensive numbers better than Kaz's? Could his defense at 2B be worse than Kaz's? If the Mets could reacquire Wiggy, then I'd have to say that the Benson deal turned out o-reet! mark the calander. I like something Brets sayin. Last I looked Wigg was doin okay on the MLB level. Not earthshaking but more than adequate. I was very surprised he was released by a team like the Pirates. __________________________ Just to weigh in on the Kaz deal,...the other Kaz, Kazmir, I must say I was shocked we dealt him, but from what I read it was not done because of any lack of talent. I do believe the Mets wanted him to pay some dues he didnt think were necessary. He got what he wanted, to as soon as possible pitch at the MLB level.
  6. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Hey! Is Anna Benson in that group!?! And that reminds me... Every day the five principals in the June 15, 1977 Tom Seaver trade get a UMDB hit from a pornographic web site. Out of curiousity (really, out of curiousity) I've visited the referring URL to see if it really has links to the pages of Seaver, Flynn, Zachry, Henderson, and Norman. And it doesn't. I wonder what's going on. For anyone who's similarly curious, I can message you the link. I really don't want to post it here. That is wierd and could be something to be concerned about. I hope no links at the UMDB take people to unwanted places. That would be my concern.
  7. GET OUT! I am soooooo totally loving this off season so far. Bye Looper. Cya, wouldnt wanna be ya. But seriously,..I wish him good luck and hope he rights his ship... Just as long as he does it anywhere except thru trial and error on the mound for the Mets in the 9th.

    MODS

oh..I didnt notice the space. Im always against the banning of anyone ( hacking tomfoolery would be my only acception) but I dont think its right to try and decive us into thinking he's another member. Id ask Mr Thomas what he would like done about it. As a matter of fact....Ill make that my next question to him.

  10. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Yes. I'm tempted to post his real e-mail address, but that would be an abuse of my admin rights. Would PM'ing it to everyone? lol. Could it really be him? And he really wants money? Cause it was kind of obvious he was plugging his book (which I didnt mind). If it wasnt actually him, Id like to thank whoever it was for making me aware of the book.

    Yea or Nay

it would be a smart move public relations wise.....gatewise. As far as getting to the big show next year? Nomar can still hit but him being there or not wont make that much of a difference. Its not a hitting utility guy the Skanks need. They need pitching and to settle the centerfield question mark. I say yay.
  12. Wiggy was released?! I voted undecided. If Benson was a 6th month rental and was now gone, Id say I didnt like the trade. I liked Ty. But I knew we had Wright and had to make room. Thats baseball. Being we still have Benson I wanna say I like it. But he would have to stay on and pitch well this season for me to say that. He'd have to win at least 15 in 2006. I say he can.
  13. did i bust a deletion? Thats kinda funny...lol.
  14. Elster88 wrote: Everyone is missing the reference. To make a short story long: My line had nothing to do with JD's use of the same joke three times. This was me being jocular b/c earlier today I made a joke about Anna Benson and the BJ Bunch and I was told (in what I think was a lighthearted way) that since the joke was obvious it wasn't funny. So I was trying to joke around here, saying "I expected JD to say that, so is it funny or not". Of course, since I never post anything clearly this actually got everyone debating whether it's funny. But I don't really need people to explain this to me. I get it, I promise. lol. Now, that does make your post funny too. JD was using variations on a theme. It wasnt that what he said surprised me. It was that he said something using only 3 words. lol.
  15. Elster88 wrote: ="Johnny Dickshot"]White people suck! Can I get a ruling on whether or not this is funny? I was expecting it, but comedy doesn't work that way. [/sarcastic snide remark] Coming from Mr Dickshot, this is funny. Classic comedy, actually. Zvon likes: Homer Simpson Eagles football Pink Floyd Randolph the red nosed raindeer Mitzi Horwitz (grade 8) Sleep medication (then staying up on it) Not having to hear from Billy Wagner's wife ala Benson Slow, fat, fastballs down the middle to any Met batter Howard Johnson Restaurants (any still exist?) Hearing "Let's Go Mets" at Yankee Stadium and at ballgames in Philly That Fenway still exists in 2006 Bleeding a strange mix of blue and orange for as long as a wound goes unbandaged Wish he could have himself on a fantasy team. My fantasy goes unfullfilled Representing the USA Uniform No. 5 was 3rd baseman Brooks Robinson's so wear it with pride, David Mixing up Tequila, orange juice and grenadine 3-2, two out, runner on third, ninth inning, David Wright up Traveling Willburys Football finally deciding that the rules should never again be changed The classic pin striped home uni's (and NOT with the line under Mets...remember that in the early 90s?...*Z hurls*) Family Fued Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria: "I'm not picky"Wishes he had the balls to go for both ^ like David Wright
  16. I know I joke about this situation, but if Anna's call to Omar plays a part in us keeping Benson I'll personally thank her( it may have the opposite effect). I'd also advise her to focus more on her career and less on his, publically speaking. But I really think Benson (healthy/for a full season) would be a fine pitcher for the Mets. He's so like Glavine that he has to be learning from the man. He's got the arm. I still hope he stays.
  17. Edgy DC wrote: So, according to Steve Zabriskie, Rusty Staub has been in love with his wife for decades. That is a solid step toward answering both Zvon's unasked question about his wife and countless Met fans' unasked question about Rusty. lmaooooo
  18. really Mr Z. This has been a treat. Thank u
  19. I watched the DeLaurentis '76 remake last night (saw the reedited and remastered '33 original afew weeks ago). But that remake DeLaurentis did was God awful....horrendous..hurlworthy. He really screwed the pootch with his version. Sure, Jessica looked yummy. It was kool to see the World Trade Center again. Kong climbing that is now kind of nostolgic now that its gone. But when it came out I hated that change.
  20. I keep an eye on the Phils but not to the point that i listen to them on the radio. I have a hard enough time picking up the Mets down here (sNJ), probly due to my cheap lil AM radio. Some days I get it, off and on.
  21. ="mlbaseballtalk"] Third Base A historically Black Hole for the Mets, Wright could get himself in 6th place with a soild injury free season I wanna see Wright and Reyes climbin those lists. ..still, we have had some 3rd basemen to be proud of. Fonzy Ho-Jo Knight Ventura Wiggy(I liked him) Brooks(Hubie) Garrett (again, not a great player but i like him) Magadan (thought he was the next Wade Boggs, lol)

    Twenty Years

Edgy DC wrote: How will the Mets commemorate the 1986 championship's 20th anniversary? Will they be able to effect a meaningful reunion? Will there be an old-timer's game? Will any ceremony they pull off include Bill Buckner? (Prediction: probably.) Tired issue: Will they make any further attempts to reach out to Darryl and/or Doc? 20 years,...wow. Time does fly, tho in many ways that seems like such a long time ago. In Met years. Theyve got to do something kool. Certain players have to be there. If Omars as good a GM as I boast, he'll get em all.(even if thats not his job, lol) An 86 Mets old timers game would be excellent. Yea, even get opponents who were part of Mets 86 history. And I hope Doc and Darryl are there, cause for that year(and the Mets teams of the mid 80's), they deserve a standing O. I did a '86 Mets commemorative drawing back in the late 80's, and Ill post that at an appropriate time.
  23. thats freakin awsum dude!
  24. great pic Edge. I went to the Ult Mets database to see a list of SS's, and I also cant seem to hate any of em. I didnt know Tim Bogar, so I cant even say I disliked him, but he may be my least favorite met shortstop. I liked Bordick. Cause he was an old man like me,lol.
  25. ="mlbaseballtalk"] Rey Ordonez ripping the fans the last week of the 2002 season sealed his fate oh,...there was that....
