  1. That pic of The Captain gets the nod and might everytime with me. Being 7 games up was bigger, event wise, but show me that pic of Wright howlin at the Nat fans and I am deaf & blind to all else.

Before the Yankees trained there? Before it was even called Butterball Field or Miller Huggins Field or Crescent Lake field? You'd have to go back to before even Ol' Case was born. Back to when Ol' Case wasn't even New Case. When all photographs and drawings and artworks were created so long ago that, by now, they're all in the public domain. That's me on a baseball card that you can use and post and link to freely without any fear that the FBI might show up and shut you down. It's from the 19th century. From before there was even an income tax I'm from the 19th century, too. So do anything you want to that picture. Put Marilyn Monroe's tits on him. Put her tits on his mustache. Call it pop art. Whatever makes you happy. But don't put Marilyn's face on him. Her image is copyrighted. Go with Theda Bara instead. She's really old. And copyright free. So who the fuck am I? [fimg=303]https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1598/24127191061_f0aa876c9e_o.jpg[/fimg] I'd believe that was Butterball if a crock was coming out of the lake. Interesting article about copyrights. http://mayersononanimation.blogspot.com/2016/01/the-corruption-of-copyright.html
  3. OOO, a new Butterball thread. I was going to add the loss of the previous thread to "Things I Miss In Baseball". Those eyes belong to Galen Cisco.
  4. Homered in his first game donned in Metropolitan pinstripes so he started at love and worked his way down to I kinda like this guy. He didn't suck.

Unfortunately, I'm not feeling it. Maybe when I see em play in spring I'll start feeling positive about what we have. Maybe these guys will jell. Personally I think this offseason (so far) leaves us a bit short as to what we really needed. How many games did we win because of Cespedes contributions in the short time he was here? What's the actual number? You might be surprised. And that's not some hokey pokey projection. Them's the facts. Do you know that Uribe or Johnson or Lagares wouldn't have gotten a big hit on those spots if Cespedes didn't bat? We won the division by 7 games, we would've gotten there without him. I'd rather just stick to what happened. And I'm not knocking Uribe, Johnson, or Laggy. They actually did spray a few big hits in crucial situations.
  6. Crazy Idea: how about Omar Minaya? He was a terrific scout. Just don't let him anywhere near the controls. I endorse this message.

  8. Uribe is the past. Conforto is the future.
  9. This is fine as long as I never have to see him face a righty. NEVER! Very one dimensional piece, but vs. lefties, apparently a very good one. I officially nickname him "Son Of A Bitch". Antonio Son Of A Bitch Bastardo.
  10. Cespedes is that high on my list for more than just his numbers. His presence changed the entire way pitchers approached our lineup. If you want to go by numbers alone he far surpassed my expectations. Duda let me down in a way. I had higher hopes for him in 2015. Too streaky. He did his share of carrying the team but for what I felt was a shorter burst of games. I might be being rough on Duda because I hoped for more from him. He should be smackin' 35 and driving in 100. Sheesh, 80 RBI from The Lumberjack would do me good.

I just copied it and moved the names around.
  12. What is said there is nice and comforting but I think the lack of one big bat puts too much pressure on those young pitchers. How many games were decided by 1 run last year? I feel it's a lot to expect the pitching to completely carry the team. I don't think that the new additions replace what was lost offensively. I want these young guns to be able to relax and do their jobs. That's so much more difficult when the team doesn't score runs. I like what he says, but I can't agree. If it goes that way I will not complain and gladly be wrong.
  13. A blog sharing tip: Before you link a blog page (if it's the current lead piece on the blog) click on the title of the entry on that blog page. Nothing will change (it might re-load) and you will be provided with a more specific URL. It will isolate the work (in this case an article) and give it a separate URL that will take you right to the page desired, even if it is no longer the lead (other articles have been written and posted, so it falls off-further and further as time goes by) article on the blog. You usually end up with a link that includes the name of the article/piece/page or post. So the above article will be forever and directly linked if this URL is used: http://studiousmetsimus.blogspot.com/2016/01/mets-already-have-enough-offense-to-win.html Other wise the link will forever take you to whatever lead story StMetsimus is currently displaying on its lead page.
  14. Ha. Are they gonna correct that? Could make it a rare collectors item. I have Mets calendars from years past, still wrapped in plastic. Not that I consider them a collectors item. I just never opened em. They're out in the garage collecting dust.

  16. I never said this was hard. So what happens if I vote Matz now and it's tied?
  17. I'm enjoying the seeing the covers. You should do this every year. And this is the week between Christmas and New Years. Of course it's gonna be slow. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  18. I have to agree. This one is super tough. Both worthy of advancing. I'll abstain if a tie advances them both.
  19. Ron Hodges.
  20. This news tried to ruin my Christmas but I wouldn't let it.
  21. The subway train covers have become something I look forward to every year. It's a tradition now.
  22. Aw. Sometimes Rice was nice. Thanks for the nice, Rice.
