  1. This one ain't fair. Two high watermarks and one actually involved water. This is a tie in my mind. If I have to pick one I'll go with Wright. After that series I really believed.
  2. Okay, I didn't check the link yet but tell me, in a nutshell (excuse the pun), what does underwear have to do to be called "gay" underwear?
  3. I'm good with this. I imagine we had to put a little more bait on the hook for a one year deal. If he's in the rotation coming out of ST I'll bet TC gives him opening day again.
  4. If you gave us til spring training I think we would have gotten this. I'm a big fan of Peaks work although I never knew who the artist was. His work was very distinctive. 5. I was on the fence about Pete but I just read he lied to Manfred during their meeting about still betting on baseball. And it's not that I have a problem with him betting on baseball now that he's not active. It's his lying to the commissioner that has me come down on the ban side of the fence. Sorry Pete, that was a very stupid thing to do. Have you learned nothing? I'll reserve judgement about the Hall Of Fame situation. All's I know is that if Bonds, McGwire or Sosa ever get in, I see no reason why Rose doesn't. I'll bet he goes in posthumously first time it comes up.
  6. I'm a big Blue fan. Tugger? 7. I love that hat. I'd happily shovel snow in that hat. $600!?!?! I'll make myself one.
  8. Gwreck wrote: Darren O'Day re-signed with the Orioles: 4 years, $31 million. I was particularly disappointed to read this but then saw this note from ESPN: "O’Day’s wife is a Fox News correspondent based in D.C., and it was no secret that he wanted to stay in the Baltimore/Washington area." This was the guy I had my eye on. I didn't know about the deal with his wife.
  9. I think it's some kind of deep blue. Supposed to be Mets colors. Come on, going for the shut out. Look at the layout on the Matz one. It sucks!
  10. I thought U DA MAN would be a sure shutout. This could do it.
  11. MFS62 wrote: But if defense is a concern, Upton taking up a corner spot and moving Granderson to center wouldn't be an answer. Damn, if he could only play center! Later Even from an offensive standpoint if you're thinking of a platoon w/Lags. I don't see them using Grandy in a platoon situation going into 2016. I'd pass on Upton for intangible reasons.

  13. Got easily ruffled too many times for my liking. I liked him for what he was, a homegrown lefty we ran with.
  14. Centerfield wrote: metsmarathon wrote: I'm hoping that this move, which I love btw, paves the way for a Heyward signing. Also the Mets could get a pick out of walker if he walks at the end of the year. Yes, yes and yes. Another yes and furthermore, yes, no chance of a return engagement now. I'll miss Da Murph.
  15. I'm amazed he even has a Wiki page at all. Let's go make Wiki pages for each other.

  17. Centerfield wrote: FK hits the nail on the head here. This is kind of what I was alluding to in my Ricco post. After years of watching Alderson masterfully speak and say nothing, it's shocking to see how blunt they are in this short Ricco era. I mean, yesterday Terry Collins was talking about where to bat Zobrist in the order. It's shocking that are so open about not having any Plan B. And I can't imagine why on Earth you destroy any leverage you have by speaking openly about how much you want a player. Crazy. I was thinking last night that the Mets must have thought all along that they would be the only team willing to go 4 years for Zobrist, and never expected the Cubs, or any other team, to match their offer. Totally that^
  18. Centerfield wrote: The latest buzz is that the Cubs are in on Heyward. They've already had a good winter in picking up Lackey and Zobrist. If they add Heyward to that team that won 97 games.... You can't let that happen Sandy. Go get Heyward.
  19. I love that fat fucker. ^said with utmost respect.
  20. When I close my eyes and think about Heyward, I see this memory. So yea.
  21. Any truth to this business that the Mets offered him 4/$60 and he still went to the Cubs for 4/$56?
  22. I think d'Arnaud should be working extra hard on his catching, throwing, and blocking from behind the plate before they start moving him all around. Plawecki is a good candidate for another position. But where? I think the Mets have more important things to work out than this. d'Arnaud's going to be our catcher in '16 and until he proves he's not fragile they should keep Plawecki right where he is, backing up Travis.
  23. I thought HAIR would shut-out NIXED.
  24. Ugh, this is horrible news. Hopefully all goes according to plan. Get well, live long, and prosper Sandy.
  25. I collected '72 pretty heavy and I have a fingerprint type memory when it comes to seeing baseball cards. First series? I don't think I've ever seen that card. Might have zipped right past it as a kid but I doubt it. A few weeks ago I bought a couple of 2015 Hobby boxes. Got some kool stuff, including these two cards. These are actual old cards from 1973 that they randomly stuck in packs. I remember Clyde when he came up. Quite the prospect. Ha, figures the team card is the Royals. I think this a pretty neat thing but I have to ask: Why did they deface the card with that Topps stamp?(shows up as silver on the actual card-scan does not show that)? The cards are just commons, not worth much, but now worth nothing as far as I'm concerned. They took old common cards in decent shape and made them worthless by defacing them. I don't understand this.
