Yes, i'm saying all illegal slides are dirty. Even if you slide well in advance with your feet at his feet, there's still an injury risk. Neighborhood play and Posey rules are attempts to legislate that stuff out of the game. It's still against the rules, and just because it's rarely called doesn't mean it's never called. A quick google finds calls being made, and wrong ones too. I found an instance where the umps called interference merely for a guy, who beat the throw to second (running on the pitch) gently bumped the fielder while trying to maintain possession of the bag. It didn't even hinder the fielder but the umps correctly called interference. And then, despite being unable to review (because he actually threw the ball so it WAS a neighborhood play) they changed the ruling on the field to a madeup rule of 'unintentional' interference and called the guy at second out and let the runner at first stay. (ruled a dead ball) So yeah, dirty slide. And we know Utley has seen that play called interference before, so it's not like he's unaware. willfully and deliberately interfering is dirty, whether it's a hard barrel role, a slide at the feet, or waving your arms or screaming "AAAHHHH" at a fielder.

fwiw Zack Greinke wasn't the best pitcher this season, and Jacob deGrom had a better FIP/xFIP.

yeah, no. Utley didn't intend to injure Tejada in the same way a boxer doesn't intend to injure his opponent. But baseball isn't boxing, and it's not meant to be a full-contact sport. And by deviating from the baseline to intentionally hit a player, and sliding AFTER you're out, you're intending to hit him. Sure, Utley didn't mean for him to get hurt. Might as well have said "I hope you land on your feet!"

you hear comments about him talking to the players some (thought you also here him say he doesn't want to impose or disrespect the current coaches). I'm sure he enjoys dropping the occasional wisdom bomb about batting or fielding to a Mets player, but that's the extent of it. The best parts of the broadcasts, Ron too, are often the ones where they're coaching us. I swear they have a better grasp on what's going to unfold on the field than the players do sometimes.

Heard the Dodgers bullpen was rather mean-spirited and nasty to the7line folks after the game last night.

So since SNY is partly owned by Comcast and Time Warner, no go with Mets games in market, but we'll be able to stream the Fox-owned YES.

Or TBS and TNT? well you can't watch SNY/TBS on your computer (well, I guess depending, most people can't though) and you need to be able to scroll back to freeze frame and capture, which you need mlb.tv for (though I guess now that I think about it, that wouldn't work for the Mets because they're still blacked out locally, not live anyway) Sometimes you can get decent pics just taking a photo of your television too. DVR/rewind.
