  1. oh good, much like game 1 of the 2000 WS, i feel a migraine coming on.
  2. I've been wearing two shirts under an orange sweatshirt and a jersey to playoff games and April games for years, but it's really probably not warm enough.
  3. If there was any traffic, I'm actually now too far away to get to my 2000 game 1 watching place in Niagara Falls. But the Falls lead to Lake Erie/Erie Canal which connects to the Hudson which I can see from my office so..close enough?

    Uribe = in

    Gwreck wrote: They can add Reynolds back in if anyone got hurt; so it'd just be for the balance of the game after an injury if necessary. I like the aggressive strategy. in theory I'm fine with it (plus Uribe has played in the World SEries every five years and won it) but he hasn't played in a live game in over a month. makes me nervous.
  7. you forgot 5. Small Sample Size as a caveat to the OBP point that represented a likely improvement.
  8. This was the only 2013 ASG apple that was in a 'cordoned off' area (the staircase was gated) and I got yelled at and threatened for walking around it.
  9. Salvator Perez
  10. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I haven't heard too many questions this postseason at all. Mostly, "describe the feeling..." and half the actual questions are of the "Isn't this cool?" kind.
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think you've taken too many Edgy pills. Okay, it's not a "question" but it's a "request for information." "I need to write something. Say something I can quote." at least ask some bs about the crowd noise, or the atmosphere, or how it'll ramp up from the LCS. If you take the lazy 'gimme quote' route, that's how you get canned cliche answers that we're sick of reading about.
  12. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I don't think I need to hate them. I just want them to lose four of the next seven games, and then they can all get on with their lives. I might be getting ahead of myself and piling on, but I kinda want them to lose the next three after that too.

  14. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Q: Describe what it's like to be in the World Series. A: It's a great feeling. It's what we play for, beginning in spring training. There are just so many ways to ask and answer the same question. that's not a question.
  15. .287/.330/.425 for a 112 wRC+ since his DL stint. If you buy that a lot of his problem was his knee injury (and he reportedly was hurting more and more as a game went on, and his numbers heavily reflected this) then he's basically Michael Cuddyer, career 12% better than average guy. Or you know, slightly better than Daniel Murphy guy. He's a better hitter than Juan Lagares. He might be better in the platoon split than Granderson and is at least a safer bet than Conforto in that regard. He's almost definitely better than Uribe, Plawecki and Johnson.

  17. El Segundo Escupidor wrote: There's definitely an old school vibe about this WS, like pre-Interleague where two teams were totally unfamiliar with each other and the chemistry of them colliding produces a result difficult to predict. Just like it should be. clearly. Unlike the NLCS, where the Mets-Cubs regular season head to head record gave us a good insight into the series.
  18. Mets in 5. I have tickets to that one
  19. probably Cuddyer, but maybe Uribe?
  20. soupcan wrote: Am I wrong in preferring the Royals over Blue Jays as an opponent? The Mets haven't played on turf all year and the Jays have played half of their games on it. Faster game, especially for the Mets less than stellar infield defense. No one else sees this as an issue? the flip side is the Royals strike out fewer than anyone in baseball. That means more contact, more balls in play. More trouble for the Mets average defense, particularly infield defense. Of course, this is a little unmovable object/unstoppable force. Will the Royals strike out against the Mets rotation or will the rotation yield hits?
  21. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: These jokes would be a lot funnier, I suspect, if I knew who this Derrick Jetee character was that you're talking about? Is he some ex-ballplayer or something? he's some bland executive of a crappy long-form blog that ghost-writes 'player-written' articles.
  22. metirish wrote: Ugh Chris Rock has crawled out form under his MFY rock I see....... They still play his appearance at Shea 10 years ago on the video board at Citi (with a photoshopped out background) of him leading "Let's Go Mets!" Speaking of which, I saw super cut of celebs doing that, maybe of which I'd never seen before (they probably did it the one time they were in the park and didn't replay it). I assume I saw this AT the park, but much of the last two weeks is a fatigue induced blur so i'm not positive. Anyone remembeR?
  23. El Segundo Escupidor wrote: They were mismanaged sure. But at the end of the day losing Pedro and El Duque was the difference between winning and losing a 7 game series against a team who had a starting rotation of Weaver, Suppan, Carpenter and somebody else not worth remembering. I don't really think the '06 team was particularly mismanaged. It was those injuries that really did them in, and the timing of them. The timing of Wagner's blown saves (did it come out that he was hurting afterwards? I forget). Hell, if Perez wasn't a throw in in the deadline trade, do they have to go back to Trachsel for game 7? Alay Soler? Mike Pelfrey?
