Does that cost $$? Yes. I think it was $20 for the season to get Gameday Audio. thought it was $15? I lose track. I use it all the time. Anytime I'm not sitting in front of the tv and the Mets are on, which is often.
  2. no surprises.
  3. Mets Willets Point wrote: Interesting trivia: Toronto is the 30th and last team to appear in a Divisional Series. last for now anyway.

  5. I had to move to stop Scott Spiezio from leaving flaming bags of poop on my stoop.
  6. Gwreck wrote: In all seriousness, roster deadline is 1:00 PM EDT. Steven Matz expected to make the roster but Sean Gilmartin traveled with the team in case he doesn't. It probably sucks an additional amount to be left off as the 26th guy. Everyone else just went to Florida, Gilmartin literally is hanging out in Dodgerland with the team, drinking in the hype and he's going to wake up today and they're gonna be all like "Nah, get out of here."
  7. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I'm kind of pissed off that that scumbag Michael Kay was yapping on the radio and I couldn't find the broadcast of this game. WTF? Anyone know where these games are on the radio? likewise, I thought ESPN had them all. I stopped looking after that though, this is why I typically just stream it through my phone.
  8. Self interested standpoint: Mets probably would do better against the Rangers in a hypothetical World Series matchup. Hence I would root for them. My self interested standpoint is i don't want to travel back-and-forth to Dallas to watch the World Series. Additional self interested standpoint: The Burger Priest is the second best burger i've tasted in North America (2nd only to the Burger Joint on 56th & 6th) and it's only available in the Greater Toronto Area. take me with you, it'll be fun.
  9. if you're gonna abbreviate the poll like that, there is only one choice. I have an obvious affinity for AL East teams that the Yanks, enemy of my enemy and all that jazz.
  10. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Or Chris Heston. And fuck those guys too. Who other than Terry wants to argue with my lineup? Grandy dArnaud Wright Cespedes Cuddyer Duda Flores Muffy deGrom I still don't want Grandy leading off. I'd probably have Tejada instead of Flores. and Murphy up higher and Duda up higher. I'd be tempted to do Wright Murphy Granderson Duda Cespedes d'Arnaud Cuddyer Tejada deGrom

  13. Fman99 wrote: I agree that the champagne shower is a bit much for winning the one-game series. The same can be said for winning the Division Series, I guess. I think hugs, back slaps, and high fives should suffice. Save the champagne for winning actual titles: Division Championship, League Championship, and World Championship. Even winning the division series, to me, doesn't merit champagne. It's as if the NFL teams sprayed each other every week of the playoffs. To me there are three times that a champagne shower is merited. 1. Clinch a playoff spot, 2. Win the pennant, 3. Win the WS. That's it. The rest is just gratuitous. Dude, if they could the NFL would spray champagne after every sack. They certainly celebrate more.
  14. TransMonk wrote: After 6 months of working towards a common goal (especially on a razor-thin margin in this case), I don't have a problem with a celebration for any sort for movement to the next level. Still, this should only be the first step, so celebrate accordingly. I'm not sure why the Astros had to move the party out to the Yanqui pitching mound. I loved the visit to the mound personally. It's true, even if it's only one game though, that it's worth celebrating. When you clinch the WC spot, you're celebrating that you made it over 10 other teams. When you win that game, you're celebrating that you made it to the NLDS and over 11 other teams. After you win that, it's 13 teams, then 14..
  15. yeah, with what we know about pitching it seems unlikely that we're going to push towards more games and long series with increased pressure to pitch Aces even more and on short rest into the colder months. You could try a neutral site World Series but I'm not sure it's wise to take baseball out of the local/regional areas. I like the idea of a 3-games/2day WC series but another factor to consider is rain and rain outs.
  16. Mets Willets Point wrote: I'm rooting for MLB to come to their senses so that they will never again stage a "coin flip" playoff game to determine if the one of the 2nd & 3rd best teams in baseball can advance further in the postseason. so what, go back to just letting the second guy in and dumping the third guy?
  17. I'm going Pittsburgh just because it's more easily accessible for potential NLCS away games I can't go to.
  18. the guy showed up late for a workout, it's not like it was a game, or BP, or whatever. it happens, no one's perfect. It's not like he did it maliciously. He'll answer for it, internally, as the case should be. "Let the team down?" hell, if no one had said anything half the guys probably wouldn't have even realized he wasn't there. Like I said earlier, Lagares misses a workout and we wouldn't even have heard about it. The national broadcast is going to talk about a lot of inane stuff, that's not really a barometer. And I doubt anyone on the team cares. It's the playoffs. Matt will pay his fine or whatever and they'll consider the matter closed.

(Gates open at 11:30 a.m.) The New York event is part of a three-city tour marking the first time these icons have played in the United States. It also renews the famous rivalry between Master Blaster Tendulkar and King of Spin Warne. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Thursday, October 8 at Mets.com/Cricket. The Cricket All-Star Series will include a special opening ceremony prior to the match as well as other functions and galas. For more information on Cricket All-Stars, visit: CricketAllStarsLeague.com The format will be T20, a much shorter and boisterous form of cricket with the games taking around three hours instead of multiple days. Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and Australian spinner Shane Warne will each captain a hand-picked team. Sachins Blasters and Warnes Warriors will feature some of the best players to ever play cricket hailing from eight different countries including Ricky Ponting (Australia), Brian Lara (West Indies), Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka), Wasim Akram (Pakistan), Jonty Rhodes (South Africa) and Michael Vaughan (England), among others. Americans are so passionate about sports, and I think theres a huge potential for cricket to take off, said Sachin Tendulkar. This is also the first time that international cricket will be played in these beautiful baseball stadiums in New York City, Houston and Los Angeles, which will be a lot of fun. Were also planning some other events and festivities in each city so we can reach as many fans as possible. "We've signed all the top players you'd ever want to see, said Shane Warne. Im excited for cricket fans in the United States to be able to see these amazing players for the first time, and I also think that the T20 format will appeal to new audiences who have never seen or played cricket before. Im really looking forward to the matches in November, and helping to grow the sport of cricket in America. Two other matches will be played in the states on November 11 at Minute Maid Park in Houston with the final match in the series on November 14 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Cricket All-Stars is being produced by NYC-based Leverage Agency, a full-service sports and entertainment marketing company. Leverage will also handle the marketing and promotion for the event. Its been a dream of mine to bring the best of cricket to America, said Ben Sturner, CEO of Leverage Agency. Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world and we couldnt ask for better partners than Sachin and Shane on this new venture.

  21. d'Kong76 wrote: no, Collins absolutely is feeling "mind your fucking business" towards the media digging for further quotes. They want to know how many lashes Harvey's going to get. Are you going by other statements or by the .png one posted? my perception of Collins in general and the quote posted yes, but here: Mike Vorkunov wrote: TC obviously annoyed the Harvey story has blown up. He tried to diminish it. Says it's been handled and they're done with it.

Ceetar, love ya baby, but you got a wild imagination. no, Collins absolutely is feeling "mind your fucking business" towards the media digging for further quotes. They want to know how many lashes Harvey's going to get.
  23. There's a little bit of "If Juan Lagares was late no one would've noticed, stop digging for quotes and let us handle our business" from Collins there.
  24. insider trading is a wholy different issue. Sure, people at FanDuel clearly can mine the numbers and see the deals and the popular picks to find value (Because you don't want to pick the best guys that everyone is picking, or you won't beat those people.) I'm not sure what people inside sports can really do that's going to hurt the integrity of said sport. It's so random, and so much dumb luck, that throwing a game isn't even really an option to win money. Sure, it's an addition and things happen, but it's not hard to call a friend in Vegas to make a bet for you or to do so in other less legal means. Any player that wants can log in to a variety of internet sites and bet on sports. So i'm not really sure what the problem is. Obviously it should be more regulated and taxed. Lotteries, casinos, poker, daily fantasy, etc. But they should all be legal, and the ones that are, well, are. This isn't any different than the NY lottery advertising a billion times on every game, we're just desensitized to that.
  25. d'Kong76 wrote: Ceetar wrote: like what? it's basically a slot machine. Even if Jimmy Rollins had the opposing pitcher in his lineup, it's not like him striking out against him 3 times is going to move the needle much, and certainly not with any certainty. Slot machines are gambling, so is the lottery. You ever get behind the guy that's playing 20 daily numbers and and buying ten scratchers at the Getty Mart? It's a sickness and enouraging young people on the MLB Channel to play Draft Kings is just plain nuts and hypocritical given their hard line stance on other gambling issues. yes, and they're legal. I think they should be taxed, regulated, and come with the same warnings those things do. When they email you your lineup it should include the number for the gambling addiction hotline. But they should be legal. As should poker, which is _actually_ a game of skill. And I don't have a problem with MLB having them as a sponsor, as I believe they're legitimate businesses and that's fine with me. I mean, Lincoln's a sponsor and so is Budweiser but drunk driving is a real problem too. Obesity is a problem and there's a huge Pepsi Porch in right field.
