  1. My worst nightmare. Often when I'm drifting off to sleep I start worrying about my house going up in flames and if I'd be able to save my family.
  2. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Edgy DC wrote: Jonathan Weissman had a failed interview with him and hated the guy. Find. That. Link. Scroll down to METS INTERNSHIP.
  3. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: To be fair, WP, the treatment the Mets/Wilpon have gotten from MLB has a gigantic, implicit "too big to fail" all over it. True, but the media coverage has been largely negative of MLB trying to aid one of its franchises.
  4. Kind of wondering how this would be covered if it were the Yankees caught up in this situation. Probably would be stuff about how the Yankees are like the "common people of America" bilked by the big banks and that crook Madoff and how we need to rally around the team. Perhaps they would even say the Yankees are "too big to fail."
  5. I suppose there are fewer adventures in ecstasy than in Bo Derek's Bolero.

He went on to have a pretty nice career, but I'd like to see him give some positive contribution to the blue and orange. He had half a rookie-of-the-year season in 1995, for what that's worth. 20-4 record for Binghamton, Norfolk, and New York that season (9-2 with the Mets).
  7. Vic Sage wrote: i liked them both, mostly because i too had contempt for the Gen x it was (probably falsely) portraying. It reinforced my prior notions about the generation that came after me, in an amusing way. I would likely hate them both, however, if i were of that generation. You have contempt for my generation? Whatever, dude!
  8. One was in Seattle, the other was in Texas, thus one had more sunshine than the other.
  9. He could easily be a silent partner by wearing glasses and a fake mustache.
  10. Is that the one with the mime who talks too much or was that Reality Bites.
  11. Edgy DC wrote: I think we run the middle syllable and go with JORD-nee. And his surname?
  12. I expect I'm not going to learn how to pronounce Jordany Valdespin.
  13. Looks like the Wilpons have few options but to Sell the Team NOW!!!
  14. Jaws is great because it's not about the shark. The makers of the sequels never got this.
  15. Rockin' Doc wrote: I don't get excited until opening day of the regular season. This. I don't really care for exhibition games and the rest of it is just chat about dudes practicing. In Boston they make a huge deal about "Truck Day" and I just don't get it. Why do even need to drive a truck of equipment down to Florida? Can't they keep the Spring Training facilities stocked up with its own supplies?
  16. TheOldMole wrote: And former Mets of Dutch ancestry? Koosman, Kranepool Dykstra is a Dutch name. I recall the Norfolk Tides having a couple of Dutch players in the mid-90's but I guess that they never got a cup of coffee with the Mets.
  17. I like my names better.
  18. I've always wanted to name some Mets. Here's what I'll be calling them: 1. Squinty McNeill 2. Otto 3. Bucky 4. The Great Flambeau 5. Arnold 6. Balthazar 7. Sarek 8. Engelbert 9. Reynard 10. Aloysius This is more fun than naming kittens.
  19. Charlie Sheen is on board. I'm thinkin' that a hilarious plot would have Ricky Wild Thing Vaughn punching his father-in-law after a bad game and then having to sit in a ballpark jail cell while his teammates play the next game. Or is that too far-fetched?
  20. The Mets will try several options at second base including various platoon combinations until Brad is revealed as the clear everyday starter for the position. The end of the year video will document this process as "The Road to Emaus."
  21. Speaking of Derek Jeter: WTF Cubs?!
  22. Ooh, I'm copying my post from the MFY douchebag thread to here: "The fiscal collapse of 2008 saw the bottom fall out of the Florida housing market. Suddenly, no one was building new homes in the state. But this did not deter Derek Jeter. Showing the same leadership he displays on the hallowed field of Yankee Stadium, Jeter steadfastly brought hope and inspiration to the American economy by building a new house in Florida against the odds."
