  1. There he struggled to capture the form that saw him help the Mets to the World Series against their more illustrious cross-town rivals. What the fuck? Can't they just say "against the fuckin' Yankees?" Why does everything have to be a dig against the Mets and their puniness next to the Yankees?

Getting kicked off the Marlins, sucking up the Yankee season, starting the stupid whipped cream pie face tradition, nipple rings. He was the guy the Diamondbacks announcers were trying to talk about as Mark Grace started spewing profanity. Hi, I'm A.J. Burnett of the New York Yankees.

Artie is walking yet? , taking Lorcan to games is great fun except I get to see very little of the game ....loves noting more than running around those bug concourses. Ha-ha! So where are the best places for toddlers in Citi Field? I need some tips for our June game.

When the fates fall into the hands of the team themselves, well... drink will flow and blood will spill. That's all I have to say about that. No the Mets have a game in hand MWAHAHAHAHA!
  5. I think this will be a fun season. The Mets have a chance to prove a lot of people wrong and it will be interesting to see how far they can take that. Even if it's not a great season in terms of wins & losses, I think it will be a less frustrating season than the past few years, there won't be the "cockpunches" of giving away winnable games. The Mets will be trying new things and trying hard and while it won't always work it will show promise.
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: Maybe we should just that annoying internet girl to sing about how the season starts ... on Friday, on Friday, gotta get set for Friday
  7. I expect the only game I'll attend this season is June 2nd.
  8. G-Fafif wrote: "The monthly awards" sounds like a euphemism for what nice girls get. Fman, is that you?
  9. McCarver annoyed me back in the 80's when he covered the Mets. I'd turn down the tv and turn on the radio.
  10. I'm reminded of watching the 1999 ALDS Game 5 between Boston & Cleveland in some dive bar. There was an old bar fly who kept her head down on the table for the majority of the game lifting it only once to say: "Shut the fuck up, McCarver. You're such a chatty Cathy!"
  11. Frayed Knot wrote: Hell, until a few months ago, NFL brass was denying there was even the slightest connection between playing football and long-term concussion-related problems. They basically sounded like an only slightly less slippery version of those cigarette executives who were called to testify in front of Congress a decade or so back. Yup, my "after 6 days" comment was a subtle dig at the NFL since there are only 6 days between games.
  12. Possibilities for misuse aside it is a good thing their giving more attention to concussions because they are proving to more serious and damaging than previously thought (or admitted). And the 7-day DL puts MLB ahead of the NFL who let players with concussions play after only 6 days.
  13. "This policy, which reflects the collective expertise of many of the foremost authorities in the field, will benefit players, umpires and clubs alike," How does this benefit umpires? Other than not having brain-damaged batters swinging a big piece of wood right nearby.
  14. Vic Sage wrote: Why do you presume that was directed at you? And in what way-- except maybe to a horseblinded Phils fan-- does that sound snarky? he responded here immediately after i made a comment about PAgan in the "worries" thread -- of COURSE it was directed at me, or at least in direct response to my point. Do you think it was just a random arbitrary blurtation about Pagan's superiority? Really? Ask him. But that he chose to respond HERE, instead of there, is where the "snark" comes from, cuz its a backhand at me dressed up as a Pagan platitude. And i don't mind a response, but do it to my face, not in your little gingerbread house thread where no one dares to make a fuss! I didn't snark at you. It was a positive statement that we made it 14 comments without snark which is pretty good for us.
  15. Another player of Dutch ancestry? Soon we'll be calling the team Het Mets!

All right, "every thread" is hyperbole for nearly every thread, especially when certain prophets of doom & gloom get involved.
  17. Well, we made it 14 posts without snark. Not bad.
  18. I don't know if we really need this thread as every thread is a "worries thread" except the one I started. That being said, my worries go deeper to the state of the ball club amidst the Wilpon/Madoff controversy and whether or not debts and lawsuits will gut the team. There may be worse things revealed as this season goes along. With all the corporate corruption I'm finding it harder and harder to be a fan of sports teams in general.
  19. This is the thread for cock-eyed optimists. List one reason why the Mets will win it all this season. No snark please.
  20. I think that Sandler actually may have the talent to pull off a classic comedy if he can escape all the sophomoric stuff. Or maybe I'm just overestimating him.
  21. Yeah, I got more laughs out of that movie than I ever imagined it would/should deserve.
  22. Geez, sounds like he works for Cunning Visions.
  23. "Blaine Boyer. Truly a sight to behold. A man beaten. The once great champ, now, a study in moppishness. No longer the victory hungry stallion we've raced so many times before, but a pathetic, washed up, aged ex-champion. "
