1. But can he pitch like Desi Relaford?
2. A lot of parallels with David Wright: a beloved lifer with one team whose career fizzled out after being derailed by injuries for several seasons. Too bad there will be no opportunity for Pedroia to play a final game with the Sox. Although, I suspect he'll be back in a coaching position in the not-to-distant future (should he want to do such a thing).
3. Whoever wins in Barstool vs. Hedge Fund Managers, we lose.
4. JBJ is a good option for fans who prefer strong centerfield defense over players who give glove a bad name.
5. Mike Lowell?
6. 4. Washing Their Hands.
7. Err, those are for 3 and 1 respectively.
8. The Back of Your Hand
9. "Give 'em a yell! Give 'em a Hand!" And let 'em know your rootin' in the stand!
10. Seating in the stands isn't the biggest concern, in my opinion. I'd be more interested in how they're handling restrooms, concourses, as well as fans arriving and leaving.

13. Kind of figured that might happen.
14. The trailer makes the movie look it bit cornier than it really is, but gives a sense of the movie's greatness.
15. I haven't seen Vin Scully's "If a picture is worth a thousand words, then you have seen a million" here yet. Seems worthy of inclusion although I want an actual Mets announcer to be #1.
16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: According to the Associated Press, the latest MLB proposal offers to expand the playoffs this year to up to 16 teams. (Why not?) And there's also this: The proposal would eliminate all free-agent compensation for the first time since the free-agent era started in 1976. It also would forgive 20% of the $170 million in salaries already advanced to players during April and May. The part about the free-agent compensation will only help a small subset of the players. I'm not familiar with the $170 million advance. This is why I'm saying that they just make it a fun tournament instead of trying to play a "season" that goes on and on into November (and into a second wave of COVID-19). Have a group stage with five groups of six teams each. The top 3 teams from each group and one wild card advance to the playoffs. Play the whole thing over 2-3 months and finish in October like normal.

18. Edgy MD wrote: I'm surprised to say this, but I'm ready to let go of the season. I'm here too. Maybe they can set up a fun tournament for a month or so, but trying to play anything resembling a season at this point is a recipe for failure.
19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The first wave is receding. It's way too early to spike the ball, but the numbers are in decline. Not in every area, but in most of the areas that had been hardest hit. Lost the link, but a story from Italy over the weekend said that the virus is changing and newest forms of the -19 strain are less deadly. We can only hope. Later This is probably a question that's not going to be anyone here's expertise, but how much can it mutate and still be C19 and not become, say, C20.
20. This is commitment to a gag.
21. I never understood the hate for Turn Ahead the Clock Night. It was one night and it was funny. I 'spose it's all part of the long history of the "no fun in baseball crowd."
22. I love Breaking Away but it's been about 20 years since I last watched. I never saw Bad News Bears but I tried to watch it with my son a couple of months ago and he asked me to turn it off about 15 minutes in. I don't think the constant use of ethnic slurs appealed to either one of us.
23. For some reason, my main memory of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium is that it was used as a staging area for the 1996 Olympics parade of nations at the future Turner Field next door. The tv showed athletes sitting in the stands waiting their turn to process over.
