  1. How much time is there between picks? I would imagine it wouldn't take several hours to just get to 15.
  2. Seems to be a lot of snark directed toward Shea. I would change some of those like: Shea: Gooden and Strawberry when they were young and full of promise. Yankee: Gooden and Strawberry, promise unfulfilled but flashes of brilliance. I'd like something a little more positive and upbeat like that rather than snarky little digs.
  3. That's true, especially those carved eagles flanking "YANKEE STADIUM."
  4. I was going to a lot of Tides games when Petagine was playing there. The attractions of minor league games are often not baseball-related but when he was batting it was electric. I think he set an International League record (or maybe it was just the Tides record) for HR's in a season. Of course that's a mixed bag record because it means that his slugging prowess didn't result in much time called up to the bigs and thus he could accumulate a lot of homers at AAA. Anyhow, I always felt bad for Petagine that he never caught on in the majors.
  5. I agree, they both look sharp, although Yankee Stadium III looks like a bank. In many ways that's apropos.
  6. The Red Sox take a 1/2 game lead on the Devil Rays and the Sunshine State is no longer in first place in either league.
  7. I like the way Jose atones for his mistakes.
  8. Ooh, there's a game on and we totally have a 3-run lead in the first.
  9. Cancel is a headline-writers dream name.
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: ="Vic Sage"]i don't like the AAAA designation as a predictor or label for a young player. I see it as more of an after-the-fact assessment of a career. That's how I see it too. That makes sense and upon reflection that's the way I usually hear it applied.
  11. Okay, since you continue to be insentient of what you did to offend me, lets do a little role playing where I'll do to you what you did to me. Lets start with something you actually said: "I proposed a methodology (time limits, for one) in an attempt to reduce the amount of "noise" created by the logical phenomenon known as the "fallacy of the new", wherein more recent events take on larger significance than older events. Certainly you could consider that there is also "noise" when considering older works that have entered the cultural canon as "classics", and knocking CITIZEN KANE off its perch may have its merits. Of course, the burden of proof is on you when you do that, but I'd be delighted to read or discuss a methodology for reconsidering the classics, too." Now I'll reply in the manner you replied to me by making up something you never said: "I really don't see how you can build a methodology of evaluating movies on little blue fairies whispering to you the best movies of all time. Can you construct something scholarly on the advice of little blue fairies? Do little blue fairies even exist?" To which you may be understandably miffed and say something like: "What the fuck? I never mentioned anything about little blue fairies. You made that up just to mock me." And if I replied to you in the way you replied to me I would say: "I interpreted your public statements and I interpret what you say as "little blue fairies." You don't like or agree with my interpretation? Tough!" Do you get it now? Do you see how making up things I say and responding to the made up commentary is disparaging, insulting even, and not a fair way to argue?

  13. I told you that the Mets left all their suck on the field last night.

  15. Criminy! The baby wakes up and I miss three runs. At least the Mets are still batting. Go Pedro!
  16. Nice recovery by Tatis, but not fast enough. Let's make it not matter by getting Vizquel out.
  17. AG/DC wrote: Predictions, shmedictions. Pedro's gonna have a no-hitter. Joba's gonna have a no-outer. That's pretty much what I predicted.
  18. I did a search and found it: "I feel all tingly when you talk to me like an Eastern European beauty innocent of baseball and its cruel vicissitudes." - AG/DC (Source)
  19. Thanks FK. Ah the memories. There was something I commented at the time should be a BOC candidate, but I can't remember who it was or what thread it was in.
  20. Nicely put. Would be interesting if there were a level of independent AAAA teams around to put pressure on MLB players and MLB teams though.
  21. Vic Sage wrote: It was neither wrong nor "deliberately provocative". I interpreted your public statements. You don't like or agree with my interpretation? Tough. Wow, do you work Fox News? Your basically said that I said something that I didn't say in order to discredit me and if I find that a problem it's my own fault? I'm not letting up on you until you respond to what I actually wrote and retract your effort to twist my words around. An apology would be nice too but not expected.
