The trade I really wanted was to take Contreras off the Cubs hab=nds. He would have been a significant upgrade at catcher or as a righthanded DH on other days. I had seen last reports that the Cubs wanted top notch prospects (Mauricio and some pitching prospects) as well as MLB ready players J.D.Davis or David Peterson for Contreras. Would have been a significant upgrade, but the Mets (and everybody else) apparently found the Cubs asking price a little too steep for a short-term rental.
The Nats and Orioles are my blacked out markets. So even with deGrom's return being the MLB.com Free Game of the Day, I can't see it since I'm still blacked out.
Thus far Diehl's career numbers do not make me see him as the answer to the Mets need for a quality lefty reliever. Naquin is having an off year at the plate. At least the Mets didn't have to give up a great deal (at least for the foreseeable future) in this trade.
I voted for 15.1 - 30 innings. When I saw the title the number that popped in my head was 18 innings. I think he will get in 3-4 starts, before going on the shelf again for some ailment. I don't doubt deGrom's ability at all, but I seriously question his durability.
He already has some great walk up music just made for him when he reaches the show. Damn, I never can remember how to post youtube videos. Anyway, the opening of "Jet" by Paul McCartney & Wings would be a great walk up for Jett Williams.
