  1. I was quite pleased when I saw this signing come over the wire. Hopefully, the changes he made to his delivery in 2024 will continue to give opposing hitters major problems.
  2. #1 - My best guess is Edgarda Alfonzo #3 - I take an educated guess with Rickey Henderson
  3. I hope I am wrong, but I am underwhelmed by this signing. I don't expect him to be anything beyond starting pitching depth and an inning eater. The Mets are going to need more than back of the rotation arms and depth. At least he comes reasonably cheap.
  4. I only see Arenado as an option if the Mets can't resign Alonso. My Plan B would likely be Bregman, solid defense and 6 years younger than Arenado. Doesn't cost prospects in trade. Arenado would be a possible Plan C. His age and his diminished power concern me and the Cardinals are likely going to want 1-2 good prospects for him.
  5. I sincerely hope I that my impression that Roki Sasaki will sign with either the Dodgers or Padres. I still hope the Mets can get Manaea back in the Mets rotation.

It appears that a front of rotation starter (Burnes, Fried, Flaherty, or Snell) is not in the Mets plans for this off-season. Have we shut the door on Roki Sasaki? You dropped the last line of my post, in which I addressed my thoughts regarding Roki Sasaki. Repeating for clarity (and I hope I am incorrect regarding my impression). The Mets are reportedly in on Sasaki, but I will be very surprised if he signs with anyone other than the Dodgers or Padres.
  7. Nice to have soupcan make an appearance. I endorse his plan and hope the Mets do as well. Slotting Pete in the 4 slot behind Soto would really make the Mets lineup pretty scary.

  9. #3 - Carlos Beltran #4 - I think was Jose Reyes #5 - Carlos Delgado and J,D. Martinez accomplished the feat prior to joining the Mets. Willie Mays also hit 4 in a game long before joining the Mets, but I don't know if they were in successive at bats or not. I gained one for Dwight Gooden, then lost the tally in your last count. I went from 18 to 19 then back to 18 correct.
  10. #2 - Dwight Gooden
  11. I went with Ichiro. CC Sabathia is the only other one on the list that I gave serious consideration. It is the Hall of Fame, it is supposed to represent greatness and sustained excellence. I personally feel the HOF has been watered down by the inclusion of too many good, but not great players.
  12. Mrs. Severino and Mrs. Quintana look rather similar.

  14. Manaea Peterson Severino Quintana McGill Scott Butto Lucchesi Senga Blackburn
  15. I think Fried should definitely be on the Mets list of potential staring pitchers to add to the rotation.
  16. Don't forget to factor in Sean Manaea who declined his player option, thereby making himself a free agent. Personally, who I wish to see the Mets keep or let walk, depends a great deal upon who they pick up from outside the current crop of Mets free agents. For isntance, I am fine with letting Severino and Manaea go if the Mets were to sign Corbin Burnes and Max Fried. Otherwise, I'd prefer they hold on to who they had. Decisions don't occur in a vaccuum. Who is expendable, greatly depends on who you have in their place.
  17. #1 - Bobby Bonilla
  18. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Yankees essentially aid and abet the Dodgers rally by repeatedly booting the ball and making poor decisions. You can't give your opponent 6 outs in an inning without it biting you in the ass. It was glorious to watch.
  19. I'm glad that Vientos is young, talented, and wants to be a Met. However, for all the sentiment expressed, it is money that ultimately determines what uniform(s) players wear. I believe that close to half of the players on Mets roster are free agents now. For all the "I Love the Mets", "we love each other", "what a great group of guys", "we want to finish what we started", the reality is that many of them will choose to play elsewhere next season based on the best financial offer. Money talks and all that "kumbaya - rah rah" stuff walks. It is the harsh reality of the business that is known as MLB.
  20. That is the most blatant example of fan interference that I can recall ever seeing. It was excessive and was a prolonged efort to interfere with Betts. Here should already be in the parking lot for his embarrassing lack of sportsmanship and fair play. If the Yankees did not remove him, then the league should fine them in my opinion.
  21. Contrast Gleyber Torres's lack of effort with the ass busting hustle of Brandon Nimmo. Brandon hustles (on routine and tough plays) more than most MLB players, while Torres is the second coming of Manny Machado, but with far less talent and accomplishment. I don't even want a slacker like Torres' on my team.
  22. Freddie Freeman - Certified Yankee Killer
  23. #5 - Gary Carter
  24. I expect he will be okay. I can't in good conscience, wish for an injury to Ohtani (or anyone else).
  25. I am not surprised that Ohtani will be back in the line up. Once I heard the diagnosis of a partial seperation of the shoulder, I expected he would be able to continue as the Dodgers DH. I don't expect the injury to affect his swing. Lucky for Ohtani and the Dodgers the injury was not to his throwing arm. As a junior in high school, I slid into second base to break up a double play and partially seperated my right shoulder & tore the rotator cuff. I couldn't lift my arm above my shoulder without pain for 2 weeks, but I could swing a bat fine. I shifted from 3rd base to DH for 2 weeks, then moved to second base for the remainder of the season where I could make shorter, side-armed throws.
