  1. The Guardians gift us 2 base runners, then Alonso hit HR #251 to make a game of it. I was prepared to turn this one off and go read if the Mets didn't show some life in this at bat. I guess now my reading will have to wait.
  2. Yet another game in which the Mets starting pitcher can't get through 6 innings. Manaea was very good for 5 innings, then pretty terrible for 2/3 of an innings.
  3. Well, kiss this game goodbye. Three run HR to make it 5-0 Cleveland. With our offense, it's pretty much "turn out the lights, the party's over".
  4. Damn. Cleveland, unlike the Mets, get hits with RISP.
  5. No surprise that Mullins didn't score. He didn't even get advanced to third. Mauricio at least hit a rocket that was caught by the second baseman (just bad luck).
  6. Lead off walk to Mullins who then steals second without a throw. The Mets really need to cash him in.
  7. The Mets offense has a way of making most starting pitchers look like Cy Young contenders.
  8. The team needs to start hitting. The offense is too stagnant of late.
  9. Once the count went to 1-2 on Pete, I was expected the "churve". I was just hoping it would be in the dirt, so Pete would get another fastball. Be careful what you wish for as the churve was in the dirt and Pete flailed at it for the 3rd strike.
  10. I hope that Tylor Megill can return healthy enough to assume the 5th starter role in a week or two. Montas just is not getting the job done.
  11. I would imagine that now that Acuna is in Syracuse, that Ronny Mauricio would replace Lindor at shortstop (in an emergency) since he spent the majority of his MiLB career (395 games) at shortstop. Brett Baty has never played shortstop during his professional career, so I don't expect him to start now with the Mets. Jeff McNeil has played 1 inning at shortstop during his MLB career. I love McNeil's versatility, but I don't wish to see him manning shortstop unless it is a dire emergency. If Lindor had to miss significant time, heaven forbid, then I would expect a quick call for Acuna to take his spot.
  12. Fourth straight loss as Mauricio strikes out to end the game. Senga needs to have his "A" game tomorrow. It would be nice if the offense could score some runs to grab an early lead.
  13. Bases loaded with 2 outs. It falls to Mauricio.
  14. Bad break that that pitch hit Lindor in the calf. It was likely going to the backstop otherwise.
  15. Mets coming up in the home 10th down a run. Mullins is in the clown car at second, with Nimmo, Lindor, Soto, and hopefully Alonso due up. Time to walk this one off.
  16. Well, Helsley looked good. Mullins, not so much.
  17. I am eager to see the Mets offense come to life. The offense needs to pick it up. All the bullpen help won't matter much if the team is constantly flailing and failing at the plate, as they did for most of the series against the Padres. We need Lindor, Soto, and Pete to be the offensive catalyst they are paid to be.
  18. Throws 99+ and has a "wipeout" slider that I read the opposition is hitting under .100 against this year. They are getting to his fastball more this year though. Had 48 saves last season, so he is accustomed to high leverage situations.
  19. I'm quite happy that Saurez ended up in Seattle with Mariners, rather than the Phillies, Yankees, or Cubs who were all reportedly looking at him.
  20. It appears the Mets bullpen should be pretty settled once this deal is finalized. No if we could get a few starting pitchers, other than Peterson, to successfully pitch more than 5 innings during their starts. I would love a CF that can hit, but I'm not holding my breath.
  21. Suarez would be great, but I don't believe the Mets have even been mentioned as one of the teams trying to acquire him.
  22. Nice pick up by the Phillies. Costs them 2 top MLB 100 prospects, Eduardo Tait a catcher (MLB#52 / Phillies #4) and Mick Abel RHP (MLB#92 / Phillies #6). Duran will be arbitration eligible for the first time after this season.
  23. Either of the Rogers twins would be a strong addition to the bullpen, but I believe the Mets got the better of the two. Looking at their stats this season: IP WHIP OPS ERA ERA+ HR/9 K/BB Tyler RHRP 50 0.860 .522 1.80 216 0.50 9.50 Taylor LHRP 33 1.455 .733 2.45 184 0.80 1.79 I would say that they both would be a welcomed addition to the Mets bullpen, but if we could only have one of them, then I believe the Mets got the right one.
  24. I'm okay with it. It is a high price for a free agent to be, but he immediately should be one of our most effective relievers. He has a proven record of making a lot of appearances and being effective the majority of the time. You don't get quality pitchers for nothing.
  25. Jacob DeGrom was a late bloomer that did pretty well. He made his MLB debut at 25 years and 11 months of age (not quite 27 but just off the top of my head).
