  1. Most likely. I e-mailed it to him anyway; it might be better than nothing, depending on if he's trying to meet a deadline. Cool to have another sorta-celeb on the board.
  2. My comment earlier about Trax was just that they showed him in the dugout; so he's with the club, at least. Hopefully we'll see him on an actual mound soon. I was just surprised to see him, and I asked if we could replace Vagina Boy with Trax and start the game over. (I don't know what they were saying about him, because as I mentioned, we're watching the Spanish broadcast.)
  3. I love when the games are in Spanish on FSNNY. It's usually every Tuesday night, and it's so much fun to watch and to listen to that instead.
  6. Hey! Here's an idea. Let's move the Mets out to Las Vegas. Then we can be in the NL West, which we'd be leading by two games, and maybe then the club wouldn't roll over and die every time they went west of the Mississippi.Frustrating to have such an impressive month statistically and yet still be so far away...
  7. I like when people wake up threads like this to remind me to post.I wanted a paperback for bed (hardcover books are too heavy when your arms get tired), and this grabbed my eye. I enjoy Stephen King, but this is decidedly blah. Maybe it's Peter Straub's (his co-author) fault; I don't know. But I'm about 100 pages in, and it has yet to grab me at all. The main character, a twelve-year-old boy named Jack Sawyer, is completely unreal... he acts and is treated too much like an adult. It seems like a similar story to The Dark Tower, which I couldn't get into either. I don't know if I'm going to get much further in this one.
  8. A refreshed Mike Piazza and a determined Ramon Castro become a two-headed catching monster.Steve Trachsel comes back strong and wins seven games down the stretch. The Brewers, Cubs, Dodgers, Pirates, Nationals, Diamondbacks, and Giants swoon in the heat and the Mets rip off a 16-6 stretch heading into the pennant race of September.
  9. I want my team to win. Now, next year, and in 2020. I don't know that it makes me delusional.
  10. ="Frayed Knot"]Palmiero's story du jour - that he took something but didn't realize that it contained something illegal - is certainly possible. If true it's still his responsibility and shouldn't keep him from the suspension/fine penalty, but it would help to label him and somewhat careless and dense as opposed to a hardcore cheater and liar.I'm still going with hardcore cheater and liar.
  11. Yeah, because if the Mets had gone 5-2 on this road trip instead of 2-5, they'd be no worse than one game out of the wild card spot, and who wants that? I'd rather take a crapshoot with a bunch of 21-year-olds in 2008.
  12. I think Bonds has been tested; I remember a story to that effect a few months ago. Everyone in the union is a part of the random testing, I'd think. I don't think anyone's insinuated that Bonds has avoided testing with this injury.
  13. I think JD's getting out of control with the fractions.Reyes 0.5Beltran 2Floyd 2Wright 2Cameron 2Mientkiewicz 0.5Castro 0.5Anderson 0.5
  14. Omar (on with Joe & Sid today) said about a week.
  15. I loved Love Actually, actually.
  16. Everyone is suspect again. In fact, this Palmeiro news even casts doubt on the guys like Brian Roberts who have suddenly developed a power stroke. The media have said things like "at least you know Brian Roberts is clean, since testing is so prevalent now." Well, guess what? Roberts and Palmeiro share a locker room. And so have a lot of other guys.Note: I'm not implying I personally question Roberts' early-season power stroke, I'm just saying that for all MLB's rhetoric, this problem hasn't gone away one iota.
  17. I'd let Matsui play also. We're stuck with his contract for next year if he doesn't perform; let's see if he can put it together long enough to create some interest in him somewhere else in the league.I'm not sold on Mientkiewicz at first, though. I don't know that I want Valent up here either, but I'd see if Diaz can play first for two months. Has he been playing 1B at Norfolk?
  18. It's going to be fascinating to see how this plays out. This is an epic disaster for MLB. The one guy who actually didn't come off looking like a moron at the hearings becomes the highest-profile roidhead? Wow.Can we put Dave Kingman in the HoF now?
  19. I'm done for today. I can't watch the rest of this. Talk with you all later.
  20. Nice DP, Cairo to Reyes to Mientkiewicz (not exactly Tinker to Evers to Chance, is it?) and there are two out with a runner at third. And just as I type that, Ensberg doubles into the gap and it's 2-0 Houston. Can we put Ishii on the DL? On waivers? On the next Mars rover mission? On steroids? Something? Anything?
  21. Dammit, Ishii! Throw a goddamn fastball to second base! What the hell was this floofy toss crap!?
  22. Hey Carlos, you hear those boos? They might sound eerily similar to what you might hear this week from your own fans.Note: I'm not saying I plan to boo him (we'll be there for Maddux-Ishii on Saturday, and I will save all my booing for Kaz Ishii when Willie lifts him in the middle of the third inning with the bases loaded and four runs already in)... but I think these Astros fans are giving some of the lesser lights around Shea some ideas.
  23. And Geoff Blum leaves San Diego to go to the White Sox for a minor leaguer.
  24. Ah, hell. What happened? I wish Willie would grow a set.
