1. That's a lot of Mets. Don Zimmer.
2. If you're looking for Dick Pole, you won't find him here.
3. Isn't Dotel supposed to miss most, if not all, of this upcoming season?
4. Aha! Rafael Santana!
5. ARGH! Yes. Tom Paciorek and Joe Orsulak.
6. The most Polish names I can come up with off the all-time roster are Joe Orsulak and Tom Paciorek.
7. Hey, if you're going to be a librarian of the future, it's all about information, not books. Sounds like your program is on the ball.(I shoulda been a librarian.)Working my way through Michael Connelly's Detective Harry Bosch series right now. I'm up to book four, The Last Coyote, and it's really starting to get interesting. I think it's pretty basic police procedural novel stuff, but I haven't read anything else in that genre, so I'm enjoying them.
8. Steve, if you're reading this, we apologize for Zvon.
9. Considering that (a) nothing's officially official on Sheff or Giambi yet, and ( Heredia and Lawton are just as ex-Met as they are ex-Yankee, I wouldn't gloat just yet. Besides, I thought the Bay Area teams were the Juice Kings, due to the BALCO connections.
10. Some reporter from Philly was on with Ed & Sweeney today and said the sticking point with Wagner is going to be a guaranteed third year. Unless his arm is falling off, I have no problem giving Wagner three years. Not more than that, but three I'll give him. Or two for big bucks, then we politely ask Pedro to close in 2008.
11. A little help, Edgy, for those of us who don't subscribe to the OC Register.
12. Scarlet loves Zito in the same way the rest of us have man-crushes on David Wright.
13. Ah, Gammons is just pandering to get Scarlet's support.
14. I was looking up Al Lopez this morning, and on the main page of b-r.com, they list 1963 Met Don Rowe as "in memoriam." Anyone?
15. Willets- I'm going to second the call on [u:0754f086ef]Puff[/u:0754f086ef]. Just finished it, and it's really well done. Thanks for the tip.
16. I'm very hot and cold on Wagner. Part of me loves the guy because he owns llamas, but part of me just isn't so sure he's the answer.
17. I thought we established that that was an "i," not an "l." So it'd be "iubes," if anything. And I don't know if that works.
18. Annie, two things: one, your team fought well and it was a good series, and two, Mets fans aren't usually ones to needlessly blast other team's failures... unless those other teams are the MFYs and Braves.
19. Is there no one in this country who can actually sing "God Bless America"? I think it's time to retire this song gracefully during ballgames; I'm done with it.
20. I want to have a really good college fair tonight and have all the other college reps throw me into the air at the end of the night. I love sports.
21. I think they pulled Benny Bean coffee. I looked it up a year or so ago, and the company didn't offer it any longer.
22. What?! Doug Mientkiewicz might be an ass?!? I'm stunned. Seeya, Doug. Take your .216 average elsewhere. Dick.
23. Got your back, Scarlet. Count me in the lukewarm camp on Timmy. Loved him as a Met announcer, still love his insight, loved his "Brain Surgeons" book, tired of his smarminess.
24. Or you could bid on this official Craig Anderson Howard Clothiers 1962 blue Mets blazer. Wear it to the next wedding you attend; see how many heads you turn!
25. Big thumbs up to the White Sox bullpen, who were awesome last night. Big W for the Sox.
