  2. Marlins forced to let their reliever hit. Me likey. (This is *also* the type of situations where the Mets like to screw up.)

My guess is that it's over 50% but I don't know that. I was curious too, so I poked around and found a Fangraphs article analyzing last season. Looks like there were 212 extra half-innings last year, and at least one run was scored in 120 of them.
  4. Timmons is just fucking guessing back there.
  5. Squeeze? Squeeze.
  6. Agree. May's got nothing left, but I've been burned by Familia walks too many times.
  7. DFAed and replaced with almost-Met Nick Tropeano, actually.
  8. =Fman99 post_id=64998 time=1621647407 user_id=86] Who is Drury? Who are these broadcasters? I know I drink a bunch but I'm totally lost right now.
  9. edit
  10. Six no-hitters already, but against only three teams: the Rangers, Mariners, and and Cleveland twice each.
  11. You know, Mets, you own the fucking team in Syracuse. Want butts in seats? Let these fuckin guys rehab up here. Home games the next four days. (And then six in Rochester.)
  12. Conforto and McNeil both to the IL, sez the internets. I don't think there's room on the 40, so I'd guess we're going to lose someone to waivers, as Lee is the only non-pitcher/catcher left who's not already here.
  13. True, good point. And it's also one of those "modern" type of fake "stats" because there just wasn't that much turnover until the last twenty years or so.
  14. Jake Hager became the *eighteenth* New Met tonight. It's only May 15. Last time the Mets had eighteen New Mets this early in the season? When Ed Charles became the Eighteenth New Met in 1967, on May 12. The Nineteenth New Met in 1967 was Nick Willhite, but not until June 11. This means we have almost a month to make this the Fastest New Metliest Year since 1962. (I was going to put this in the Met Count thread, but I felt like it was interesting enough to stand on its own.)
  15. This is *exactly* what I was hoping for. Wonderful, well-deserved standing O from the crowd, then they whack the ball all over the place on him.
  16. Updated for 2021, now with less players! Daniel Zamora (AAA Mets): bouncing back and forth on the Syracuse shuttle so far, but didn't get to the mound with the Mets. Gave up seven runs in 2 1/3 innings in one Syracuse appearance. Nick Tropeano (AAA Giants): Started Friday night and gave up two runs in 2 2/3 innings. Travis Jankowski (AAA Phillies): 6-for-19 in six games. Aaron Pinto (AA Cleveland): two games out of the pen, one run in four innings. Bobby Honeyman (AA Mariners): 2-for-10 in four games. Tanner Cooper (low-A Reds): 3 1/3 scoreless innings in two games.
  17. Poking around to see what some of the former Seawolves were doing in AAA this season, and look who's in the Sacramento River Cats (Giants AAA) rotation: https://www.milb.com/player/scott-kazmir-431148https://www.milb.com/player/scott-kazmir-431148
  18. JEEZUS Lindor. Holy moley. Also, Alonso somehow mixes Olerud-style defense and Piazza-style defense at first into every game.
  19. It's just... with five months to go on the deal, it's REAL weird timing. Not necessarily. He's paid this year either way, so they've got nothing left to lose. There was always the hope that "well, maybe next year..." but they don't need that cushion any more.
  20. Willets Point wrote: =TransMonk post_id=63346 time=1620336668 user_id=71] He has as many HRs as Alonso this season, which is more than double any other Met player. Maybe the Mets should sign him then. He could play the mid-80s Rusty Staub role.
  21. Cards doing their best to ankiel themselves out of this game.
  22. BREAKING NEWS: METS SCORE RUN, DESPITE NOT ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING TO EARN IT
  23. I thought that with the 10-day DL Nimmo would be a no-brainer. Just give him another few days to heal or whatever and get a live bat in there so you don't have to use pitchers to pinch-hit.
  24. Haven't heard this in years. Love the new version!
  25. Ted's back!
