  1. 62, wouldn't he be the first one on that list? Look at the third paragraph.
  2. She looks like she's about 40... she's supposed to be a college student?
  3. He's gotta stop shaking hands with fans like that. Apparently he didn't learn his lesson. Nice gesture from Lastings; that's a thumbs-up from me.
  4. Or Rhea Perlman sitting on Danny DeVito's shoulders, which would totally win the office costume contest.
  5. Molly Ringwald?
  6. Nah, Wright's second half bothered me. (But apparently not as much as Delgado's first half bothered me.) David will have plenty of chances to top Seaver down the road; gotta keep him humble for now.

  9. Or you could do the wave, which sucks and is annoying and needs to result in more people getting whacked in the head by foul balls.
  10. I hate the wave with the passion of a thousand fires. When the wave comes around, I want one of these morons to get whacked in the head with a foul ball.
  11. I'd rather what Yancy said. I want them to spend $80 million and find out he's Hideki Irabu.
  12. Does nobody pay attention to the blue hat rule? Yancy, I have some tiny, blurry, black-hatted pictures of everyone on the list. (Even the guys from the 70s!) I'll e-mail them to you as one enormous zip file.
  13. 86-Dreamer wrote: Gary Sheffield seems like a complete jerk. He has been a very easy guy to root against throughout his career. However, I can think of at least one high revenue team that could use a slugging righthanded leftfielder for a short-term financial commitment, so I am not surprised that the Yankees think they can get something for him in a trade. The limited duration of his deal makes him potentially very valuable to a team that thinks next year could be their year. But, oh boy, what a jerk that guy is. Dreamer, if you're insinuating what I think you're insinuating, NO.
  14. Even on the replay; Vin and Joe just let the crowd tell the story. Fucking brilliant. Tim McCarver would be flapping his gums like a nervous fifteen-year-old girl.
  15. metsmarathon wrote: that #1146 guy sure was fast... Yeah, really! He appears to beating out that fifteen-year-old girl and that old guy! (insert comedic smilie emoticon here)
  16. I don't know if Trey Hillman ever made the majors as a player, but he managed in the Yankees' system for a while.
  17. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I don't remember that January 2002 excavation. What was the purpose? I believe they needed to reinforce the field for the impending arrival of Mo Vaughn. Or they were looking for Jimmy Hoffa.
  18. Topps did a ton of airbrushing back in the day; they weren't shy about airbrushing out a logo on a hat. I guess it was easier (and cheaper?) than getting a new photo. In response to Edgy's question; rosters were bigger, but baseball card sets weren't. The 62 set only had 598 cards for twenty teams. Throw out all the league leader and highlight cards, you probably only had 25 cards per team, and when you figure teams that actually played in '61 would probably have to have more guys represented, the Colts and Mets probably got less spots. Your 1962 Topps Mets: 4 John DeMerit 7 Frank Thomas 26 Chris Cannizzaro 29 Casey Stengel 85 Gil Hodges 94 Jay Hook 162 Sammy Drake 183 Roger Craig 213 Richie Ashburn 256 Elio Chacon 279 Hobie Landrith 293 Bob Miller 308 Neil Chrisley 337 Jim Marshall 365 Charley Neal 408 Gus Bell 421 Ken MacKenzie 436 Felix Mantilla 464 Al Jackson 497 Ed Bouchee 572 Bob Miller
  19. A world without the UMDB is a world that I don't want to live in.
  20. Coaches alphabetically... Acta Alomar Apodaca Baylor Benedict Berra Brantley? (Wasn't Mickey Brantley a coach? I could be wrong.) Cubbage Dromenhouser (Do bullpen catchers count?) Galante Gibson Harrelson I'm sure I missed some in there. There had to be an E.
  21. Jon Stewart gave me his extra ticket; I'll be down on the field level.
  22. Vic Sage wrote: i like the D-Back logo... because it indicates which is dee back of dee jersey and differentiates it from dee front. But if they put D-Backs on dee front, isn't that confusing to players who don't speak English?
  23. I kinda like the "db" snakehead. And I agree on the apostrophe; that just looks stupid.
  24. ="Vic Sage"]Mark Twain's ROUGHING IT.So far i'm disappointed. I thought it was about 19th century S&M.You've confused that one with A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur.
  25. That's the way I read it this morning. The Mets can tell him, "We're not paying you $14 million." He can either say "Fine, then you'll pay me eight to play," or "I'll take my three and go sign for eight elsewhere and make eleven."
