  1. Jerry's going all out. Do NOT take Santana out of this game. Gwreck, I'm assuming you're at the game. Go lock the bullpen door, and take Ryan Church's helmet away.
  2. WOW we got lucky there, but I'll take it. Still shoulda pinch-run for Carlos, who is slower than me right now, but... whew.
  3. Taking Reed's defense out of a 0-0 game late? Better be right, Jerry.
  4. Is it Ugly Visor Night?
  5. How great is this fucking guy? Gives up a double, knows he has to bear down against three candy-ass hitters, and gets 'em 1-2-3. No sweat, and we get Chan Ho Park, who apparently forgot it wasn't 1997 any more, out of the game. Worth every penny. They should send an extra prospect to Minnesota now just as a thank you.

  8. DAMMIT Jose stop diving into FIRST FUCKING BASE.
  9. Don't both of those belong in the APWATP thread? George ain't running the Yankees any more.
  10. Seriously? ]What we witnessed on Tuesday night was a baseball rarity. On 7 occasions prior to Tuesday, Larry Jones has come to the plate with the circumstances as follows * Mets beating Braves * 2 outs in the 9th inning * If the Mets get Larry Jones out, the game is over. Of those 7 instances prior to Tuesday, you know how many times the Mets got Larry Jones out? One! It didn't matter if Larry was a rookie or a grizzled vet; if the Braves were down one run, or down 10 runs. The bottom line is that Larry almost never ends games at the plate (though he did end one game on the bases, but I don't remember it, so it's almost as if it didn't happen). In potential ninth-inning "Get Larry out and the game is over" scenarios, Larry reached base on 6 out of 7 occasions (including one intentional walk). That's ridiculous. http://www.metswalkoffs.com/2009/05/measure-of-satisfaction.html That's pretty bad. (Or good, if you're Chipper.)
  11. Edited your poll for you.
  12. ="MFS62"]="GYC"]Rick Ankiel ran head-first into the outfield wall. If he goes on the DL, he will be my eighth player on the DL this year and the seventh still on it in my money fantasy league: B.J. Upton (returned), Justin Duchscherer, Chien-Ming Wang (now dropped), Ricky Romero (now dropped), Brian McCann, Edwin Encarnacion and Stephen Drew. Jason Bartlett and Dan Uggla have also been hurt lately but both returned to their lineups yesterday. Maybe Ankiel would have missed the wall if there had been a picture of home plate on it. Later That made me laugh. Remember that game? Holy moly.
  13. I tell you, though, that insipid chant drives me fucking batty, and just sounds idiotic.
  14. Coulda been a bad jump on a hit and run.
  15. A few years ago, I'd be cowering under a blanket, sure the Mets would blow this game, being in Atlanta and all. But the mystique there is long gone.
  16. And once again, Gary's reading the Pool. (Or he just watched a replay.)
  17. Those two home runs landed in almost the same exact spot.
  18. Beltran busts out the whopping stick and it's 3-2. Nice.
  19. ="Kong76"]sea: Dude, that's what the library is for <<< Collector/Completionist of Mets cards, books, publications -- it's like a sickness. Ah. I stop at cards.

HahnSolo May 04 2009 02:24 PM CapriSun Player(s) of the Game. themetfairy Jun 06 2009 07:24 PM Tonight was the final game of my son's Little League career. Before the night there was a slim possibility that the team could still advance to the next round of the playoffs. That would have required them to win tonight by a margin of four runs or more, and then to get some help from the other teams playing tomorrow night's game. But all contingencies are moot. The Liberty Tax Services Mets won tonight by a score of 3-1. MK caught all six innings and had an RBI in the game. So it's over. But at least they went out on a good note. Let's Go Mets!
  21. The guy certainly has a right to publish his memoirs or whatever. Did Darryl piss on your cat, Steve? I don't get the venom either. He's been welcomed back into the fold, he's done appearances... I don't get it. He hasn't been in jail for years, has he? Did he get caught with drugs or something recently that I missed?
  22. Dude, that's what the library is for.
