  1. Matt Koch, RHP, Louisville in the 3rd.
  2. Jankowski goes #44 overall to the Padres, less than an hour after Stony Brook wins their regional bracket and heads to the "super regionals" against LSU. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  3. Braves go deep outside their comfort zone and draft a guy from... Georgia.
  4. Not looking forward to facing Strasburg-Giolito ten times a year.
  5. BA: Cecchini has good tools, but that's not what wows scouts. Cecchini has solid offensive ability, and some scouts consider him more of a bottom-of-the-lineup hitter. He makes consistent contact and is an above-average runner, but his strength is his defensive ability at short, baseball instincts and overall ease of play. He can make shortstop look easy and has plenty of arm strength and accuracy. We drafted Rafael Santana. Fuckin' hell, Mets.
  6. Hawkins does a backflip in celebration. Good thing the Mets didn't pick him, because you KNOW if he was a Mets pick he would have torn both ACLs on the landing.
  7. Barring something really crazy happening, Travis Jankowski will likely join the ranks of Stony Brook "alumni" who have made the jump to the professional ranks. Hitting .412/.477/.632 in 228 AB this season (not counting yesterday's doubleheader), Jankowski projects somewhere in the supplemental first round or thereabouts. (Make it happen, Sandy.) He'll join two Seawolves in the minors: Tom Koehler is 6-4, 3.71 in 11 starts with AAA New Orleans. Koehler celebrated his addition to the 40-man roster by starting 0-3, but in his last seven starts, he's gone 6-1, 2.43, and if you throw out the one loss (8 runs, 2 1/3 innings), he's 6-0, 0.93 in the other six games. He's knocking, Marlins. Nick Tropeano was drafted in the fifth round by Houston. He's 4-3, 2.94 in 10 starts, with a 76/13 K/BB ratio and a 1.119 WHIP in 64 1/3 innings. He's knocking, Astros.

He may be weary. It's tiring having to turn around quickly to watch balls go whizzing past you into the gap all the time, especially because he's so tall.
  9. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Nice move by Matheny to bring in his top reliever in the 8th inning with the tying run on third w 2 outs and Wright and possibly Duda due up. Somewhere, Tony LaRussa is spinning in his grave.
  10. This is now two games in a row where they've given up a run. Suddenly I'm really worried about the pitching staff.
  11. GRANDERSON SLAM! Curtis's Homer Sparks Yanks to 9-4 Victory Over Tigers

  14. Also awesome: Gary on the edge of tears in the booth.
  15. Eddie C, trying to interview Johan in the dugout, getting blasted with ancillary champagne. Awesome.

    tracky?

Apparently picked a bad time to go on vacation.
  17. I just jumped around the living room and high-fived the dog.
  18. Edgy DC wrote: That's my kind of ovation. It's 3-2. Time to swing, baby. There was no way he was swinging there, under any circumstances. Cleto couldn't throw a frickin' strike. And here. We. Go.
  19. Close enough. Love ya, Carlos. Vanis takee.
  20. If Carlos was ever a True Met, he'd swing wildly and miss on this third pitch.
  21. Didn't like the looks of that last pitch, or his reaction.
  22. YA. GOTTA. BELIEVE.
