  1. Yeah, that's not a good look for him. One of my all-time favorite Mets. Wish he was more successful.
  2. Am I the only person here who loves this? I think it's awesome.
  3. He can't; he's waiting on hold to talk to Francesa about Jaff.
  4. Can't relegate this to "other news," Jeets. Jaff Decker was an integral piece of the 2014 Mets, and now he's not here any more. That's back-page news, whether you agree with it or not.
  5. IT'S NOT TOO LATE. We can get him from the Pirates. Offer them Ike, Syndergaard and the Knicks' first-round pick next year.
  6. Well, SHIT. There goes our whole outfield plan for '14. Cancel the season. http://metsblog.com/metsblog/jaff-decker-will-not-be-on-the-mets/
  7. ???? http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/11/21/jose-canseco-pulled-over-by-police-with-goats-wearing-diapers-in-the-car/
  8. Well, there's a difference between "favorite Met" (for me, Kevin McReynolds) and "greatest Met" (for me, Seaver, but as I said, Wright's almost there).
  9. I agree with some that it's way too early on Harvey. Too many variables between now and then. Wright is knocking on the door, I think. He already has a lot of the career-best offensive numbers, and he'll become #1 in homers (30) in 2015. Stay healthy and productive through this contract, give him one WS ring and I think he's got it.
  10. Assuming/hoping it's a low-end deal, in which case I strongly like. "Only" 30.
  11. The story of that game was the prelude/opening statement to my "baseball is religion" sermon at our church a few summers ago.

  13. CPF Trivia Factoid: That logo was designed by my uncle/godfather in a logo design contest during the 1988-89 offseason. I wore that pin on the inside of my jacket on Jeopardy! for luck. (Didn't work, obviously.)
  14. If Dykstra and Knight are on that list with a hole in the middle, there must have been another '86er. Ojeda?
  15. Saberhagen in whatever his "on" even-numbered year was. 92 or 94.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Races cut no ice with me, but if I wanted to something fun, I'd have actual former Mets race. "Tonight's contestants: Kevin Roberson! Greg McMichael! Craig Paquette! And Tobi Stoner! Who do you think will win, folks? Get a good look at these athletes and make your best guesses! Text your predictions to 45678. All winners get five free DarlingDollars redeemable anywhere within the ballpark!" This would be awesome. Winner stays on for the next home game, Jeopardy-style.
  17. I hate Mets twitter. I'm slowly unfollowing people because most of them are fucking idiots.
  18. Centerfield wrote: Agree a thousand percent with JCL. With the first responder hats, not only do they lack the ingenuity and conviction to be able to come up with something like this, but when a fantastic tradition is born right into their organization by the players, they lack the resolve to stand up for it and defend it. I know to some it's just a hat, but in my mind, there couldn't be a better display of what is wrong with this organization. I'm glad that fan allegiances are created when young. There is not a chance in the world that as an adult, I would ever choose to root for this organization, knowing what I know. THIS. ALL OF THIS.
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: He never played again after taking a foul ball off the top of his catcher helmet during a Mets game in August. "2013 Mets: We might not have won many games, but we sure did beat the hell out of the opposition."
  20. I'm already tired of everyone bashing the Wilpons over the Vanu deal. NOBODY thought he was going to be a big-time player, and we did get 150 productive at-bats out of Anthony Recker II that summer in return.
  21. And he's only 23.
  22. Speaking of failed prospects, Francisco Pena.
