=G-Fafif post_id=137661 time=1694968758 user_id=55] Dennis D'Agostino, who worked under Jay Horwitz in Mets PR in the 1980s before moving on to the Knicks, has died of a heart attack at 66. He wrote what, at its time of publication (following the 1980 season), was one of the most remarkable books any Mets fan could pick up: This Date in New York Mets History. The title doesn't begin to describe what a treasure trove of information and insight it was, Mets Internet before such a thing existed. Not just the data, but the warmth. It may have been the first time I read something by a Mets fan that spoke the Mets language β one of us when, again, those voices weren't readily accessible unless you knew a guy. He stayed active in sports for many years while living in Southern California. Wrote Keepers of the Game, recording the memories of the last generation of baseball beat writers from when it was still all about newspapers, plus Garden Glory, a really thoughtful and knowing oral history of the Knicks. I exchanged a couple of notes with him over the years. A very nice man.
