  1. Yeah, my dad was a LL coach and so when that film came out in '76 I was a toddler, already spending every summer hanging around the practice and game fields while my dad coached. I've also never seen Breaking Away.
  2. "You take a risk getting up in the morning, crossing the street, or sticking your face in a fan." -- Frank Drebin
  3. We need a CPF GoFundMe. Let's buy this fucking team and fix it. WHO'S WITH ME
  4. =dgwphotography post_id=37821 time=1591138803 user_id=78] Actually, he still hasn't acted like more of an asshole than I think he is.
  5. Yep can't care won't care. Want real baseball. MLB baseball.
  6. The best thing he ever did was to roll over and pitch like dogshit in game 7 against the BoSox in 2004.
  7. Got to visit it last summer while on work travel in Dallas. Went with a bunch of coworkers, most of whom were not baseball fans, but were all willing to go along and have beers and soak up some summer weather. It was 90 degrees and we were 4-5 rows from the top of the stadium, but, at least, we were in the shade. We got there during the top of the first inning and by the time we had reached our seats the Rays had put up an 8 spot or something. Took the lightly populated crowd right out of the game. Still, a pleasant enough place for baseball. It was "dollar dog" night, so, you gotta like that. https://imgbb.com/ My Mets memories are way more limited. The Reyes debut is about it for me.
  8. Finally I get to see my newly chosen favorite team, the KT Wiz. Sharp unis, too.
  9. Ok, let's remember how historically bad Alomar was as a Met. And unlike most of the dudes on this list, he was supposed to still be pretty good when we got him. Except NOOOOOO
  10. =metsmarathon post_id=36601 time=1588975927 user_id=83] i know it's a quaint tradition and all, but man, i hate not having a say over which people get to touch my wiener.
  11. Willets Point wrote: =Fman99 post_id=36500 time=1588849900 user_id=86] Reggie Jackson tried to kill the queen and Frank Drebin saved her. Other than that, I got nothing. The weird part is that the movie was filmed in Dodger Stadium but the Dodgers didn't want to participate in the filming so they got the Angels to play instead.
  12. What's nice is my cable provider (YouTube TV) now gave me the option to record all KBO games. So they should start piling up on my DVR at least.

  14. =metsmarathon post_id=36467 time=1588781994 user_id=83] damnit, how can i root for the Wiz if they're not in the opening round of game airings? what are you trying to hide, espn!
  15. They'll start in July. There's money to be made, even if it's just from TV contracts.
  16. Fboy and I went with the KT Wiz. They're mascots are the most fucktarded and that was why we picked them. [youtube=R_2cAb9NIgs]
  17. Ah never mind, just saw that other thread. You guys are sharp.
  18. I was up for work and naturally the game started 45 min late due to a rain delay. I watched a bit, though, and it's definitely baseball, shit-awful ESPN announcing notwithstanding. I'll be tuning in. Should we maybe decide as a group which KBO team deserves our short term Metly loyalty?
  19. =G-Fafif post_id=36336 time=1588605103 user_id=55] Just got this release: ESPN today announced it has reached an agreement with Eclat Media Group regarding the KBO League – South Korea's most popular sports league – to exclusively televise six, live regular-season games per week in the U.S. starting with Opening Day – NC Dinos vs. Samsung Lions – on Tuesday, May 5, at 1 a.m. ET / Monday, May 4, at 10 p.m. PT. One game will air each day, Tuesday through Sunday, generally on ESPN2 and on the ESPN App. The telecasts will air Tuesdays-Fridays at 5:30 a.m. ET, Saturdays at 4 a.m. ET and Sundays at 1 a.m. ET. The Lions vs. Dinos Opening Day telecast will air on ESPN, following SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt. As part of the agreement, ESPN will become the exclusive English-language home for KBO League live games and highlights for the 2020 season. The deal includes the postseason and the Korea Series best-of-seven championship. ESPN's game selections will be made and announced on a week-to-week basis during the season. The telecast schedule and ESPN platform is subject to change pending future live event considerations. Burke Magnus, ESPN executive vice president, programming: “We're thrilled to become the exclusive English-language home to the KBO League and to showcase its compelling action and high-level of competition. We have a longstanding history of documenting the game of baseball and we're excited to deliver these live events to sports fans.” ESPN play-by-play voices, analysts and reporters will provide commentary in English, remotely, from their home studios. ESPN baseball commentators contributing to KBO League coverage include Karl Ravech, Jon Sciambi, Eduardo Perez, Jessica Mendoza and Kyle Peterson. The team of Ravech and Perez will call the Lions vs. Dinos season-opener, as well as the May 6 and May 7 games. This reminds me of the 1978 newspaper strike when the Philadelphia Inquirer suddenly began showing up in New York and you were damn glad to pick up anything that resembled what you were used to.
  20. Above everything else, I'd ban "EVERYBODY CLAP YOUR HANDS!" because it bugs the crap out of me. It's funnier and more enjoyable if, as Fboy and I do, you change it to "EVERYBODY CRAP YOUR PANTS" and then commence clapping.
  21. Whatever gets them on the field.
  22. Totally fine with it. They'll be on TV. I only attend 1-2 games per year anyway. So I don't necessarily care where they play.
  23. Sure, absolutely. Unlike most of the rest of these this has some foundation in the actual history of actual baseball.
