So wait, the Iron Triangle isn't a metaphor for a female sex robot and her naughty metal bits ?
  2. Mets bullpen to be sponsored by Ipecac
  3. I like it. Depth at a reasonable one year price.
  4. He'll get a nice round of applause I would think in his first appearance in the Citi as a visitor. You know, then, again, once he gives up that nine run HR that's his trademark.
  5. Strong add, for 2 prospects I never heard of (granted, I don't follow the prospects all that carefully). I like Carrasco/Megill/Peterson competing for the #5 slot than the 4/5 slots, so, there you go.
  6. More swings out west. More games where I go to sleep with a 0-0 in the 3rd inning kind of deal. So BOOOOOO to that. Otherwise, sure, play the Mariners, Royals, whatever dumbass name the Indians have now. Do that.
  7. Willets Point wrote: I know I'm a broken record, but I've long been on board for a regional realignment of the leagues. Three leagues of 10 teams (East, Central, West) with a balanced league-only schedule. Build up regional rivalries and sell more tickets because fans will be able to travel to more road games. All the games in the same (or adjacent) time zones so TV viewers aren't falling asleep (or still at work) when the game is on and ratings go up. If they expand to 32 teams, then four leagues of 8 teams each works even better. This is an easier pill for a lot of folks to swallow now that they've crammed the DuH down NL fans' throats. The two leagues really are indistinguishable now, rules-wise.
  8. Correa to the Cubs. Book it.
  9. One of these NY beat wonks (Martino maybe?) theorizes that the Mets will not be players on Kris Bryant or Michael Conforto, but will instead focus on another starter, and more bullpen help, and bench depth. He threw out the idea that a one year deal for Kyle Schwarber might be more likely to happen given the potential shorter-term commitment it might take. I wonder if a trade isn't more likely - even with the DH in place we have a glut of marketable hitters on the roster, some of them disaffected.
  10. I know there are voluntary workouts today only because it was reported that Max Scherzer was attending, despite them being voluntary. But there's not much for my baseball hungry soul to feed on with that. It's guys playing catch. Fboy and I could put Mets hats on and go have a catch today (if they weren't calling for a foot of snow in the 'Cuse, that is). I'm more interested in knowing when the full roster will start appearing, and when the first ST games are held and broadcast on a channel that I can watch.
  11. https://twitter.com/jareddiamond/status/1502062106862137351 Wait, I kinda like this! As an out-of-market fan, I'll have more chances to see the Mets in person! The downside is fewer games on East coast time and more late innings I will miss, fast asleep.
  12. A-FUCKING-MEN TO THAT
  13. For those of you with a bit of technical savvy, and the stomach to click through pop up ads, Mets games that are only available on pay-for subscription services can be found in real time and streamed to your TV. It's shady business but I know a guy who knows a guy.

Ted Williams batted .406 and he had to deal with the shift all the time. Changing the rules because hitters refuse to adapt or change their approach is hella-stupid. Just another brainless suggestion by baseball-hating commissioners.
  15. Apparently owners and players are both on board with banning the shift. HATE IT
  16. The original is still funny to me - it came out when I was 11 years old and much of the humor I think was aimed right at me. Everything afterwards, including GBII, was and is garbage. I suffered through "Coming 2 America" because my family wanted to watch it. It stunk. You cannot recapture a funny feeling or vibe from 30 years ago. Sorry. Give me a new story, new characters, something funny that I haven't seen before.
  17. I enjoyed the ever loving hell out of this movie. These performances were golden, and, yes, Sly and his group were I think the high point. Stevie too.
  18. Fucking reboots should fucking die
  19. Yah I'm super bummed to be wrong about this.
  20. I was against the bump from 8 to 10, but that ended up being a good thing (despite 2016) as I like the pressure of the one game play-in wild card. But I think 10 to 12 is stupid. I mean, I also think the DH is stupid, though, so stupid is as 2022 does I guess.
  21. "Serves em both right for dicking around all of December/January without even attempting negotiations." From my perspective, MLB locked out the players and then dicked around for nine weeks so they have been dickier. Yeah but it's not like the players didn't know they were locked out. Were they pressing to get the owners to the table and find out how to get them to unlock the doors? I think no
  22. Old New Yorkers who retire to FL are supposed to stay there and die. Has he not met a single old Jew down there in all these years ? Read the handbook, duder.
  23. I predict they get it done today or tomorrow. They could potentially extend that deadline one more day if they feel they're close. Serves em both right for dicking around all of December/January without even attempting negotiations.
  24. I wonder how much of this is "we need to talk about SOMETHING" rather than actual news. Ding! Ding! Ding! Yeah, seconded. He's not coming to NY. This is sports journalist masturbation set to type. Nothing to see here.
