    KTE: Jints

Zito - Cain - Lincecum has a chance to be a real good top of the rotation for the next few years. Add Noah Lowry (and Matt Morris) to that trio and you really have something--
  2. I thought of using "his Godson will visit Shea this week" but assumed that was too easy.
  3. Mays it is.
  4. Was a Met. Is in HOF.
  5. Not Schmidt
  6. Trivia for today's game-less threads: Who is the only player in MLB history to hit a home run in innings 1-16?
  7. As much as I'd like to see it, it's never gonna happen. Heading into tonight's game, Cust is 2 for his last 23. Plus, even if they bench Kendall, his backup is Adam Melhuse-- Mike is #3 on the catching depth chart.
  8. A few years back, I recall ESPN and ESPN 2 showing three games a piece on Memorial Day-- this year, none.
  9. Ed Kranepool.
  10. John Olerud?
  11. I invited a Met fan from South Carolina, whom I met at a recent conference, to stop by-- not sure if he has given it a second thought.
  12. There are always some posters who--meteorlike--burst onto the scene amid great fanfare and then fade away. Remember Fillet Milan? That guy was great.
  13. Seems to me that even some of the old stalwarts are less "talkative"..
  14. It's been awfully quiet here for an awfully long time. 50 games into the season and postings are waaaaay down. We need an infusion of Zvon/Valadius and some of the old timers...where's SK and her brood?
  15. Good news all around... I'm interested to see the roster juggling over the next 10-12 days.
  16. In town for a conference and looking to go either T or W night-- let me know if any are interested/available.
  17. Jack Cust, professional Hitter. 7 games, 6 HR for the newly acquired A's DH-- they don't seem to miss Piazza much!
  18. GameDay sez Alou left with an injured leg-- any word?
  19. Great KTE-- I now Know the Brew Crew. IIRC there is a CPF-like Brewer Board-- they were petitioning for a return to the "ball-and-glove cap" here a few years back. "Ben Sheets has remained injury-free for almost six weeks..." Classic.
  20. I remember reading a Sports Illustrated piece that Tony Gwynn added "JD7" (for Jack Daniels Old Number 7) in his early years. Not sure if it's been verified
  21. Glavine: 4 Reyes: 2 LoDuca: 2 Feliciano: .5 Wagner: .5 Wright: .5 Alou: .5
  22. I was at this game-- took the ferry over, then walked to the stadium. Stopped by Gordon Biersch brewery for some garlic fries (a SF tradition and WAY better than you can imagine) then took in the game with an old friend and former colleague....12th row seats behind the Giants bullpen-- only $40 on craigslist!-- $8 beers, but they were pretty good (Biercsh)-- they have an excellent assortment of food at the park: from Orlando Cepeda's BBQ to authentic Mexican churros and sushi... Tons of Mets fans, very good to see. Lots of beautiful people, too, which was a nice surprise. Reyes looked awesome, Delgado not so much (did he get old overnight?) Cool promotion: if you are in attendance when Bonds homers, you just need to present your stub at a Giants Dugout Store to receive a commemorative pin-- I was there for 745 (or whatever number it might have been). a bit of a homage to the coveted pins that were awarded to those brave souls who stayed for the duration of extra-inning games at Candlestick ("I came, I saw, I survived" say those momentos, in Latin, of course)... Trying to convince the Mrs. to go with me today-- any advice on getting her to accede? She's a Mets fan, but today IS our anniversary (9 years).
