  1. I think it was Colts GM Bill Polian who dressed down Kiper.

I can't believe how many typos were in my post-- teach me to contribute before caffeine. I think Heilman is more likely to go to Oakland at this point, since Milledge really does nothing to alleviate their bat surplus.

Oakland may have some bats available since they have a surplus of OF: Shannon Stewart? Mark Kotsay? Wouldn't mind if htey through in Marco Scuatro, too, though I htink they'd be more inclined to part with Bobby Crosby at this point. The Cubs might with Jacque Jones since it looks like they want to give Felix Pie a turn in the OF. Either deal would cost Heilman, I would think-- maybe Milledge?
  4. Get used to it, since Alou's return has been pushed back (again): From nymets.com--- Alou delayed: After doctors drained fluid from the left leg of Moises Alou on Tuesday, the veteran outfielder said he expected to be ready to play in the Mets weekend series in Detroit. But Alou experienced pain in his strained left quadricep while testing it by doing some running exercises before the game. He then expressed doubts he will return as early as he had predicted. Alou was assigned to the disabled list May 17. "We've done everything that we think we should do to get it better," Alou said. "I ice it three or four times at home. I've even put my horse's ointment on it." So the guy who pees on his hands to keep them callous -free now uses equine ointment to regenerate his legs. Weird.
  5. And he pulls up lame to boot. Gotay has to be moving on Franco's hit...has to.
  6. ]Armando, meanwhile, has yielded one run in four appearances as a Marlin. Meanwhile, Armando's heir apparent in SF, Kevin Correia, gave up his second walk-off homer in three days-- this time to Arizona's Chris Young. You call that relief pitching??
  7. It's a shame the Endy image isn't on it's own card-- that pic hardly does the catch justice.
  8. why an asterik for 2005 and 2006 to note the same thing? wouldn't one suffice?
  9. That Reyes card is beautiful. Did Topps-- or any other maker-- get one of Endy's NLCS catch, a la our own Zvon? I'd love to see that
  10. Wonder if Barrett got the kind of flak for that play that A-Rod received for his attempt to distract Toronto fielders last week. Both plays were playground-esque (playgroundian?), both worked, yet I suspect Barrett was applauded for being plucky while A-Rod was treated like a villain.
  11. I like the color of that Omaha hat, though.
  12. Cool Val-- let us know when it is so we can buy tix and heckle you! You should also have the PR guy introduce you as the Nightcrawler. j/k

  14. Then why is Taschner credited with a blown save in the box score?
  15. The Benitez-less Giants pen surely deserves some mention. Jack Taschner surrenders a three run game tying jack to Ryan Howard in the seventh, and in the ninth Shane Victorrino hits a walk off against the closer du jour Kevin Correia.
  16. Looks like Clemes will face the Bucs instead of the Pale Hose....prolly wanted to go against a AAAA team rather than a recent championship club.
  17. What argument? That grown men shouldn't fight? Or that kids mimic thier role models?
  18. I think his .500 record and climbing ERA will have more to do with detracting suitors, but he does have a penchant for prima donna antics, showing up umpires and teammates. He'll garner some interest to be sure, since he is only 26 and is very talented, but he can forget about "Zito dollars". Last winter, there was talk of $100 million plus for him...I think he's come down a good deal, now, and his antics, coupled with his performance are both to blame.
  19. Lou missed the boat-- rather than saying, "teammates shouldn't fight each other-- they should fight the other team (if they need to)" he should have said that grown men should never fight. Really, unless it involves protecting your family there is no need for adults to get into fisticuffs-- and now that the scene has been shown a bazillion times, how many little leaguers will try to re-enact that scene this morning.
  20. From the same site-- yikes! http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2007/05/31/national/a140504D69.DTL
  21. Giants get 2 in the first for the third time in as many games.
  22. I didn't even know Glenn Kuiper was a player. His brother Duane does Giants telecasts with Ralph Kiner's favorite Pole, Mike Krukow
  23. Honestly, I feel sorry for Armando. After the game, Fox Sports Bay Area went right to the A's telecast, where Glenn Kuiper "welcomed those who were watching the Giants-Mets game." Ray Fosse: "last time I looked they were winning 4-3...what happened?" Kuiper: "Benitez." That's rough. .
  24. Let's see if Armando still remembers how to lose games at Shea.
  25. Had Delgado gone for the out at second, Vizquel still would have scored before the foinal out (at second) had been recorded.
