  1. Nice job, TM. Who is closing these days? I believe Hoffman has been relievd (get it? see what I did there?) of those duties.
  2. Your member-of-the-month award has just been transferred to your son.
  3. Ken Macha is on a hotter seat then Jerry. Perhaps bench coach WWSB will replace him soon?
  4. Tony Pena was good, and for a long time, but Carter and Piazza were great.
  5. I was just thinking about that fat toad, and his horrible swings. Was adecent reliever after flaming out as a starter, no?

Arthur Rhodes If you had told me he retired 3 years ago, I'd have believed you.

  10. "He's very young for his age." Looks like Terry Collins went to the Kiner School of Malapropisms.

    Really?

Typical to want to replace a laid-back type with a firebrand, and vice versa. My preference is a former catcher with coaching credentials (attached to Bobby V): John Stearns.
  12. Damn. Pathetic showing.
  13. Diaz don't take no shit. He's the ump that busted some fan who attacked him on the field in KC.
  14. 20%! Holy shit. How many furlough days? In Cali, it was two a month for a 10% reduction. Nobody wins with furloughs...I hear this year, they'll just propose a straight 5% slash. On the plus side, graduation was May 1 and my next teaching day is September 7, so I'm not complaining. (too much)

Too funny. Apparently, Braden has a deformity where he has no sensation in two of his toes. Quipped a blogger for Athletics Nation: "Braden and A-Rod each have 10 total toes and testicles."
  16. Put him in as a Marlin.

In his post-game interview, he was a perfect gentleman...nothing like the nonsense he was spouting on the local radio last week.

    Dallas Braden, perfect through 8.
  19. mets get a little help from mother nature there And Hunter Wendelstadt, too!
  20. SF announcers keys to the game: 1. Go get'em scrubs! (Bochy and his staff--including ex-MFY coaches Roberto Kelly and Hensley Meulens--think Lincecum can get by without the regular lineup) 2. When in doubt, walk the catcher. (First time in MLB history that two consecutive games were ended by a walk-off HR from the catcher)

Heralded Cubs SS prospect Starlin Castro arrives in style: HR in first AB, bases-clearing triple later. 6 RBI for the 20 year old in his MLB debut!
  22. Tied for the NL lead in HR: Rod Barajas!
