Speculation has the O's going for Buck Showalter. Gonzalez was a Cox disciple, no? With Ned Yost snatched up by KC, that's one logical replacement that ATL lost-- perhaps Fredi lands on his feet with the Braves? Would be good to see him there, shafting the Marlins 18 times per year. Loria is fast becoming Steinbrenner South. I find him insufferable.

Time limit is a relative term: it's 30 days after his first appearance in a sanctioned game. A 15 day stint could be indefinite. Personally, I hope he comes back as an effective starter, but I doubt he can.

Put me down on the JCL juicing bandwagon. I think he was a sham. I remember after the M's signed him to a big contract, there was a press conference and he wouldn't put the team hat on (his Nike one? sure. His team one, not so much)...some rep had to hold one if front of the podium while he addressed the media. Stay classy, Kid.

There has to be an underperforming clown on another team for whom we can swap Ollie, even if we must eat the lion's share of his contract. This rids us of the cancer without fueling fears that he 'figures it out after another squad signs him for the minimum" which is a foolish line of thinking anyway. It's like not wanting to dump your fat girlfriend, becasue "she might get in shape and be hot at some later point."

Also, Giants phenom Buster Posey went 3-4 with three rbi in his debut. GM Brain Sabean must be punching himself for resigining Benji Molina when he has Buster and a very good backup (Matt Whiteside) at his disposal.

We know Halladay threw a perfecto, but also: Angels slugger Kendry Morales hits a walk-off Grand Slam and is then carted off with a broken leg suffered in the ensuing celebration. Only a matter of time before something like that happened. My guess is teams start curtailing that type of activity, and none too soon (a walk off granny is one thing, but when they do it for a bases loaded walk??)
