  1. Matt Garza to Cubs for a boatload of prospects.
  2. March 20 will most assuredly be a NCAA men's basketball weekend. Either first- or second-round game, which will definitely take precedence on any Sports Bar television.
  3. They signed Carlos Pena as their thumping first baseman, no?
  4. Orlando Hudson to Sandy Eggo: 2 years, $11.5 million
  5. The op three and four of the top five play third base...let's get rid of Wright NOW to make room!
  6. Thats a crowded OF in Oakland: DeJesus, Willingham, Crisp, Matsui, Sweeney, Conor Jackson. Methinks Coco Crisp be a-moving.
  7. I guessin' this stops the Beltran to the Sox rumors. But starts the Beltran to MFY ones. 20M? sheesh.
  8. And, Doumit, apparently, can be had. I remember them getting blasted for dealing Nate McLouth to the Braves, since he was a five-toolsy guy, but that didn't turn out so well for ATL, did it. Every year I root for them to do well, and every year they suck. Hoping for Pittsburgh natve Mark Cuban to step in and spend spend spend on this team.
  9. That's Barry Zito money, there. Hope it works out as well for the Nats as that one did for SF.
  10. Lastings Milledge now available, as is the intriguing Scott Hairston. Surprised Oakland nontendered the recently acquired Edwin Encarnacion. Some pop there.
  11. Mets Maulers only one without a HoFer, too.
  12. If anyone is curious about the 2011 Topps design.... http://magazine-exchange.com/product_downloads/pdf/2011ToppsBaseballSeries1SellSheet.pdf 1. 330-ish cards? I recall sets from my youth with many more. Only 15 "team cards"? What about the other 15?? 2. A real frickin' diamond embedded in the cards? Glad to see MLB doing its part to keep DeBeers in business, and Sierrra Leone in misery.
  13. I thought they were the same, but subtle differences (wristband, batting glove) lead to me to question this, since athletes are such creatures of habit.
  14. What happened to the rest of Mrs. Beltran? I recall her being a touch heftier, no?
  15. Oakland's adds Jays 3b Edwin Encarnacion in a waiver acquisition. Incumbent Kevin Kousmanoff has a MUCH better glove, but far less power: EE had 21 homers in something like 50 fewer games than KK played.
  16. Please not Sutcliffe (or Mark Grace!)
  17. Damn, Oakland has a solid defensive infield!
  18. And this one: How much does it cost to see Jeter as Buddha?
  19. Took great pride in being the first (and only?) HoFer from South Dakota. Saw a TV segment years ago that painted him as having severe learning disabilities. Still recall his Tigers getting off to that 35-5 start in 1984.
  20. Nice to see the Giants honor their history by inviting past greats to participate, and that the parade route was the exact same one used for the official welcoming in 1958.
  21. Davis Niese Takahashi Thole Valdes
  22. Go Giants! With the local NFL teams tanking, the whole Bay Area is on the bandwagon. I haven't felt this excited about playoff baseball in some time. I've never had a bad experience at any game in SF, even when sporting my colors. The closest was when some guy threatened to call CPS on my wife for dressing our girls in pink Mets gear, but that was a joke (I think).
  23. Farrell to Toronto. Anyone else worried that the MFY will grab Bobby V?
  24. Jeffrey Maier all over again. motherfather.
  25. Blue Jays: Eric Wedge Brewers: Cecil Cooper Cardinals: Ryne Sandberg (now THAT'd be fun!) Cubs: Mike Quade Mariners: Joey Cora Marlins: Bob Melvin Mets: John Gibbons Pirates: Ken Macha Rangers: Bobby Valentine Yankees: Joe Girardi
