    I suspect papers in Miami are speculating that Sox scouts were in attendance at last night's game, eyeing Jose Reyes, Carlos Lee and possibily Ozzie Guillen. That said, I'd be really disappointed if the Mets dealt Davis this offseason.

    Quarter of a BILLION dollars and three all-stars involved. The waiver deals are confusing. BoSox placed Gonzalez on waivers-- LAD claimed him, meaning the Sox either had to deal him or pull him back...but I had no idea they could expand the parameters of the trade to include folks the Dodgers had presumably not claimed.

    Bay (7), Davis (4) and Valdespin (4) ... have to sleep there tonight Actually, following today's game, Giants fans are invited to pitch a tent in the outfield grass: pizza will be ordered, movies shown on big screen and an early breakfast served on Friday--- all for the low, low price of $250 per person. Tempting, but pricy.

    Traded Omar Infante and Anibel Sanchez to Detroit today. A white flag and the first, apparently, of many deals to come (Josh Johnson? Carlos Lee?? Hanley Ramirez???) . Haul includes a pair of arms who will no doubt be a pain in Mets' sides for years.

    Was that a straight sacrifice or more of the bunt-for-a-hit-and-take-the-sacrifice-as-a-backup-plan move Straight sacrifice but Valdy's speed almost made it a hit, too. Nickeas' bunt was one of the worst I've seen-- he should have swung away with the wheel play on anyway, but hard back to the mound is not the way they teach it.

    Brandon "I played only half the time" Belt was 2nd to Votto at 1B... Either the san fran voters went NUTS or there was some cheatin going on. Freddy Sanchez hasn't played in 13 months and got 2.3 million votes (good for fourth at that position). Shortstop Brandon Crawford is hitting .232 and came just 300,000 votes of upending Rafael Furcal for the start

    Den Dekker would be too steep for a free-agent to be, I think. Plus, there'll be bats that could be had for less soon enough....Soriano could come cheap, and apparently the Cubs would pay major freight. Shin-Shoo Choo anyone? (perhaps the Tribe could even send us back Joe Smith, or Matt LaPorta if we sent say, Murphy and Davis). Quentin is intruiging but the injury and potential short-term part of this deal worry me
