  1. Says Nats reliever/autogenerated NPC Ryne Harper: "Keep talking, y'all!"
  2. See, this frame is more typically Sewald-y
  3. Works within his limits at the plate, works it smoother than Al Green-as-a-gardener in the field... Gimenez calms me.
  4. Even though wifey ain't feeling it, bearded home chef is fuckin' GROOVING on his Shop-Rite pasta ingredients
  5. Second of the year... and the second off a lefty, right?
  6. CATCHER RUUUUUUN! #3 C Lucroy
  7. He saves that for FREE AGENT signees, and only in OTR comments that only he could have made
  8. They DFAed Humphreys for Peterson? Or for someone else? I think it's kinda fun how Brodie keeps finding new ways to give up prospects for defense-first/absolutely-NO-hit outfielders (Broxton, Marisnick, Hamilton) he could have signed free and clear earlier. I also like that he seems to be doing his best to squeeze 162 games of Brodie into a mere 60 games. Dig that work ethic, Bro MacIlvane!
  9. It really, really doesn't. Here's the thing: I think there's no WAY CAA made a contract without receipts... so they wouldn't publicize/leak information countering the public narrative without being able to back it up. I CERTAINLY believe that BVW might attempt a "technically true" bullshit spin. I also think it's strange that so few people have even mentioned that the fact that it's Van Waganen-- his former agent, privy to all manner of personal info that the team might not have previously known-- at the head of the figurative table? I mean, is it any surprise that after the team sued him, and HIS FORMER PROFESSIONAL CONFIDANT is now his keeper, that he might be slightly paranoid about being treated fairly?
  10. Catching postgame Zoom conference. Is it me, or is Dutch about 90 percent of the way to transforming into 1989 Val Kilmer?
  11. Of the deGrom-credited sort, no less!
  12. We have a reliever!
  13. Ooh, aging junkballer? Me likee! Jared Hughes is my kind of FA signing, and I'm not even kidding.
  14. Just turned this on. Gotta say... it's more than a little disorienting.
  15. Judging from what I saw in the dugout, dude can't even splinter a bat properly.
  16. The Mets shouldn't be forced to scramble or cover for anyone's ass. But it just might behoove them to do so. They generally don't. In fact, they usually go the other way.
  17. Would have been nice if he TOLD HIS BOSSES before hand, and not have this be a shitstorm all day. What difference would it have made? Professionalism? Show signs that you are an appropriately acting adult, and not a petulant child? You don't know that and that's not a difference. Opting out of the baseball season is a difficult decision to make that weighs heavy. Right. Which is why you don't hang your team out to dry not knowing where the fuck you are, and why the fuck you didn't report to the stadium with everyone else. You don't cause panic and worry among the media and the fan base, at least among those who care about your health and safety and won't send hate your way, or mock you relentlessly based on past behavior. Like Namor said in the MIA thread, best case for him NOT looking like an unprofessional, immature and petulant child is if someone connected to him was tasked with providing Brodie/Rojas with the information, and there was a simple communication breakdown there. It's also not a completely UNamateurish thing to put out a passive-aggressive, "but it's TRUE" press release just before a game. Assuming it went EXACTLY the way that Mets management said-- and keep in mind, this is coming from the "pay no attention to the chair-throwing behind you: NO CHAIRS HAVE BEEN THROWN" set-- if BVW had gone the "personal reasons-undisclosed" route, and then let Cespedes hang himself... it might have been a lot less of a shitshow for the organization.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Not that we've earned any breaks here or deserved any better, but has an opponent hit a bloop or a swinging bunt so far this season that hasn't dropped in? If they hit 'en hard, it's a hit. If they hit 'em soft, it's a hit. There's a bit of correlation between the incidence of these things and how shitty your team is at getting to and catching balls in flight.
  19. All of this is just dumb. If we want to be entertained, we should go to a pop-up drive in. Or read. Or go the ball-and-a-cup route.

Later Or be the corrupt leader of a small Caribbean country. Or release about 30 albums of New Orleans classics with his Jambalaya All-Stars before his 40th birthday. (Though none of those albums would truly capture how much the band smoked live!)
  21. If we somehow manage to hold on here, Shreve's in line for the win, prolly, right?
  22. Y'know, it would save a lot of time if they just, like, intentionally walked the leadoff guy.
