Alonso was out by 20 feet but with two out you send him. Ran up the pitch count nicely on Cole, too.

Wilpons didn't want to give up SNY in the deal if I recall. I think there was a bigger deal almost in place that would have included it, but Jeffy and Fred backed out. The irony would be if the Mets went elsewhere when the deal is up, but that doesn't happen until 2035. One of the last things they did before selling the team was extend that contract with SNY. It's basically the only asset they have. -

Boy, the NL sucks. For the Mets to have played as badly as they did for the first two months of the season and still be in the thick of it is, well, Amazing.

5 weeks to the trade deadline. They're on a good run now, but they could be back in the dumpster by then. If so, trading Pete makes more sense. If they're on a wild card push, then they keep him. Pretty simple, and it all depends on how they perform between now and then.

I was in the back of a taxicab heading for the Hong Kong airport, closing out a business trip. I was following primitive GameCast on my primitive Iphone and saw that there were two out. And then GameCast didn't update for a looooooong time. I thought I'd lost the connection but I guess GameCast was figuring out how best to describe the shitshow. Finally a long, brutal description was rendered (along with a changed final score) and I swore so loudly the cabbie thought something was wrong.

Beer was.....eh. I had a few Heinekens. Not very crafty. There probably was more variety somewhere, but I never found it. At the other end, the mens rooms were well run and cleaner than you might expect.

What was funny was that when you got down to the bottom of the bat it was really hard to drink and a lot of beer was spilled onto faces and shirts. That pic is from Saturday's game, where the weather was really sunny and it got downright hot in the leftfield seats, like being in the bleachers at Wrigley. Someone even tried to get a cup snake going with moderate success.

I would have gotten one of those beer bats if I thought it would fit in my carryon luggage. They were cool, and lots were sold. He's right though, those two-foot hot dogs were gross.
