  1. Won't the neighbors be surprised when they find 'Volquez' on your maibox.
  2. Cole pitching like MFS62, apparently.
  3. Future Me is in the hospital because this team is giving Present Me a heart attack.
  4. Night after night, this team leaves itself absolutely no margin for error.
  5. With our luck, he probably aggravated it waving a towel.
  6. They didn't have a picture of him diving futilely for a 38-hopper up the middle, though.....
  7. If I recall, Keith made fun of David Wright's Great Gazoo helmet as well. And that picture of him with his trainer that they've shown incessantly is decidedly, shall we say, Metrosexual. It's Keith being Keith. After 9 years on SNY you kinda know what you're gonna get. Guess Mushnick was desperate for something to fill the column space.
  8. Hard to imagine multiple suitors for Chris Young.
  9. I don't think Mike Glavine helped Tom much.
  10. Zvon wrote: The Mets hitting like a real MLB team frightens and confuses me. Seems to have frightened and confused Niese as well.
  11. Stop, guys. You're wasting runs you might need later this week.
  12. I get the Times delivered at home, and on Saturday I can actually relax and read the whole thing. So imagine my surprise this morning when I open up the SportsSaturday section and find that there is NO ARTICLE ABOUT THE METS. Nada. Zip. There are two articles about the Yanks, not bad considering that their game started too late to be in the morning edition. The Mets started late, too, but damn. A retrospective of St. Jeter and his wonderful Oakland moments? Check. A story about Joe DiMaggio and Frank Sinatra's tortured relationship? Check. But a Mets win, which should be front-page news because they're so rare? Sorry. Had to squeeze in six pieces about some guys kicking soccer balls around somewhere. Sucks rooting for the third team in a two-team city at times.
  13. 'Laying down any lettuce'? What is this, Guys and Dolls?
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: The 2014 Mets have not just the most losses via a one-run margin (17 - no one else higher than 14) but also ... - the the largest percentage of their losses coming via one run (50% -- next highest = 43%) - the largest percentage of all games being one-run games (25 of 62 - 40%) - and the worst winning pct in one run games -- 8-17 (.320) One school of thought says that this means we're really not as bad as we look right now, that just a handful of extra runs--say by just being merely competent in bases-loaded/RiSP situations--would result in a markedly better W/L record because of all the close games going against us ... but it sure doesn't feel like that right now. Or they could just suck. I'm going with that.
  15. He better not experience any setbacks due to Ranger Elbow.
  16. Aaaaaaand I get my wish- Valverde released. Hudgens fired, too.
  17. This will have been worth it if Jose Valverde earns his DFA after the game.
  18. When Keith sighs, I usually agree with the reasons, and I don't even have dinner reservations in Sag Harbor.
  19. Interesting dilemma being set up here. You can 't send either Montero or deGrom down or to the pen. What happens when Gee gets back?
  20. Howie/Josh were certain he was out, FWIW.
  21. Wondering if deGrom and his .800 batting average can play first......
  22. Sitting in my backyard listening to Howie and Josh, so I can't throw things at my TV. Abreu hits but to no avail. However, the sun is warm and the beer is tasty.
