  1. Cespedes, time to get your head out of Yoanus.
  2. Hope there wasn't too much glare from the lights on that guy's head a few rows down.
  3. I'm thinking maybe I wasn't drinking enough beer. I'll try to rectify that oversight tomorrow.
  4. Couldn't listen to him for more than 5 minutes on ESPN, so I wouldn't bother now. Don't understand the angry-at-everything-all-the-time schtick from him or anyone else. Lenny's a doofus. He didn't bribe anybody. He's trying to sell books because he's broke.
  5. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Donnie is going to discover that it's very different to manage with a $300 million payroll and then with the Marlins. Well, Stanton's making $300 million all by himself.
  6. I kind of fall in the same place. I was OK with winning one series, just to prove they belonged. Once Tejada was fed into the Utley wood chipper, I wanted their collective asses kicked. They did that. The total domination of the Cubs was a complete surprise; I was already in gravy mode. While I want them to win the Series, like Tom Gl@v!ne I won't be devastated if they lose. They already got a lot further than I ever expected them to, even in my most feverish dreams. At this point I just want to avoid embarrassment on the national stage. Take a game at least and show a little fight, Metsies.
  7. Well, with the way they were hitting Cueto, they weren't winning anyway. But I'd like to know, was he that bad (location) or were they that good (able to hit anything).
  8. Ventura can get rattled. Rattle him, Mets.
  9. Royals were on everything deGrom threw. It was kind of weird; even most of the outs were hit hard. And impossible-to-hit pitches were getting fouled back so they could live for another pitch. He simply couldn't put them away. He had a game like that against the Cubs this summer where he punched the Gatorade cooler on the way out. This game felt like that one.
  10. Nothing I tried worked. My Murphy shirt has lost its mojo. Perhaps I need to go counterintuitive and pull out my Lastings Milledge shirt.
  11. "Momentum is tomorrow's starting pitcher." -Earl Weaver Go Thor.
  12. So I'm thinking I might be in a little trouble on that whole 'Mets in 5' thing.
  13. Wow, Terry taking our advice and putting Lags in CF and Conforto at DH. Now if he'd only take our advice and roll Cuddy up in a Persian rug and ship him to Baghdad. #FreeJuanUribe
  14. Really, in my book that's a double and a two-base error. Home scoring, I guess.
  15. Well, I'm guessing it's symbolic. Art's already been demonized by Philip Seymour Hoffman's portrayal in Moneyball. That's beyond our power to affect.
  16. Yeah, I get the feeling that deGrom can settle things in, Cueto gets roughed up, and they go back to NY 1-1. And maybe I get some sleep tonight.
  17. Yeah, there was a lot to like. I mean, stuff happens, and at least the HR Familia gave up was a no-doubter. That screwup in the outfield on the very first pitch was inexcusable. But so was throwing a dead-red fastball down the middle to the hottest hitter this side of Daniel Murphy, who ALWAYS swings at the first pitch. If Fox Sports knows not to do that, why didn't Harvey? I like the aggression on the basepaths. Put Cuddyer in a corner of the dugout and cover him with tarps. Please. Bartolo and Niese did admirably, holding the fort for 5 innings anyway. Wright, yeah, he looks like he's lost something. They're not afraid to pitch to him when things are on the line. Too many scoring opportunities wasted. But if they grind it out, they can beat this team. Harvey adjusted and was getting them out. deGrom's going to have to do that on the fly as well.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: I've had to switch to the radio broadcast. Is that lady with the tan coat and beehive blonde hairdo still behind the dugout? Back in regulation, she stood out the whole nine innings in the sea of blue. We've been listening to the radio since the 9th. These guys are unlistenable. There isn't even the benefit of Ron Darling.
  19. Ohhhhhhhh, David. We can't keep wasting these opportunities.
  20. Was there a debate earlier as to whether Cuddy sucked? I think we have an answer.
  21. Yeah, not crazy about Niese here. But he gets the first two.
  22. So who pitches the 10th and beyond? Bartolo?
  23. OK, I'm gonna take a few laps around the house now.....
  24. Good thing no one's checking my blood pressure right now.
