  1. Points deducted for the A-Rod inset. NY Citi.
  2. Edgy MD wrote: So, I'm going to guess a Nationals employee leaked the 4x20 figure to Nightengale who he knows from the DC beat just to bid up the Mets. Well, let's hope the brain trust isn't dumb enough to fall for it then. For that money he can enjoy DC. I'm not really on the Zobrist bandwagon. I understand he's versatile and a switch-hitter and his wife can bend knives with her thoughts, but I don't like Herrera being blocked, and we'd be paying for a guy from 35-38.
  3. Supposedly 4 years, $80 million (presumably from the Nats) is on the table. If so, I'll take my chances with Dilson Herrera.
  4. Dodjas trade for Aroldis Chapman. Kenley Jansen liable to not be happy, but that's a fearsome 8th and 9th inning combo.
  5. This is all blah, blah, blah until people sign. If we look back in March and did nothing, well, then I'll lower the boom. But things are very fluid right now for a lot of teams. Hell, last year I didn't think there was a chance in hell they'd sign Cuddyer. And after that I thought they'd do something more than John Freaking Mayberry Jr. So I'll wait and see. While I'm happy to crucify the Wilpons when it's needed, I won't crucify them for something that they haven't done yet.
  6. Wonder if Molly's tried it. The recipe, that is.
  7. 6 years, $206 million. That's just nuts.
  8. Dave Roberts will be on the hot seat in LA, so Geren will be the reliable backup in case anything goes sideways. Solid baseball man, yada, yada, yada. He should immediately get to work on Justin Turner's beard; it annoys me.

  10. They better win something with these four cheap, controllable starters while they can because in the early '20's they'll be making the equivalent of the GDP of a small African country.
  11. The only way they get Betts is to overpay. Their first request will be for one of the Big Four. Hanley, stay far, far away. Holt would be nice, but they'll want too much for him, too. Bradley, meh. And anybody who's owed significant money won't be coming to the Mets.
  12. "Despite Postseason success, Mets still plan to dropkick Murphy" Priceless.
  13. Looks like that screen shot left out the other 4 or 5 players the Mets were getting back in that deal.
  14. Well if he doesn't pan out they can put him to work......printing World Series tickets.
  15. Oh, heavens to Mergatroid, no.
  16. I'd worry that his hair would get stuck to the ice.
  17. Not. Going. Anywhere.
  18. Amazin Matz is going to be a tired headline soon (I hope).
  19. Wow. This is hard. Still get chills about it all.
  20. Gwreck wrote: Would they trade Wheeler for two seasons of Frazier? Depends on which two seasons. The early seasons of Frazier, where Niles is lusting after Daphne, are better than the later ones where everybody started working out their 'issues' and the ensemble got less funny. Although the episode where he gives a speech in Klingon at the Bar Mitzvah is hilarious. Wait, what?
  21. Zvon wrote: Usually when they double up it cancels each other out. Crying Shame was a triple! Had to pick one of those though, it was such a pivotal event. I like the Post layout best. Yes, with Gomez smiling demonically from the wings. Plus the Daily News had that whole Loose Dentures thing going on.
  22. 2015 was unusually dramatic. If you'd done this in 2014 (or 2009-13) it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun.
  23. 'Clip & Save' is pretty good, but 'Blunder Storm' sums up the Mets at that point. Isn't it amazing to look at these with the benefit of hindsight? Wilmer crying and the fiasco of the Gomez non-deal and an epic collapse in the rain, it looked like we'd bought tickets on the Hindenburg. But then........
