  1. No insurance for you, Metsies. Hoping for Good Diaz.
  2. Damn, thought Vientos got that one. So did he.
  3. Alvarez needs to sit for a bit. He takes home run swings at everything.
  4. Somehow, I don't see him making the majors as a shortstop. Lindor is here through 2031.
  5. Two more, please, and maybe build up a bigger lead in the late innings, okay?
  6. Peterson trying to be too cute. Just throw strikes.
  7. Heavy rain and thunderstorms on the way. Get a lead early, hold it, and play fast.

  10. That one scared me, but McNeil reeled it in.
  11. They really need to focus here. Coming after the Dodgers and 3 consecutive national games, they have to avoid the letdown. Anything less than 5 of 6 is unacceptable and a sweep should be the realistic goal.
  12. Garrett warming up for the 9th does not fill me with confidence.
  13. So we get to see Ohtani throw batting practice for a FOURTH time.
  14. The Mets beating the Dodgers right now is not conforming to ESPN's pre-set agenda, and they're clearly annoyed.
  15. Really. That was 2022 Diaz. No f'n around.
  16. I think Nimmo's still hurting and just playing through it. Baty had a brief moment where he was good for a few days, but seems to have sunk back into the ooze. Taylor gets the occasional hit and plays grade-A CF, so there's that. I have a feeling Marte may be reaching the end of his string as a Met. Cohen's okay with eating salary when he needs to. Vientos is personifying the sophomore jinx. He's not patient enough at the plate. Alvarez seems to be swinging for a 3-run homer every time up. Acuna started cold, got hot but then they seem to have figured out how to pitch to him, so he needs to adjust. His speed and defense are weapons, but the bat needs to improve. Maybe this is who they are. The pitching has overperformed, but there are signs that's coming back to earth. Maybe the hitting will regress to the mean in the opposite direction.
  17. That being said, Soto's going to start hearing boos. And the boos are going to get louder unless he plays better and harder. Lindor heard them. Beltran heard them. Hell, even Piazza heard them. So buckle up and buckle down, Juan.
  18. Hey, it's Michael Kay. https://i.imgflip.com/3uc960.jpg>

Soto seems to be going through the same thing. Said this very thing to someone over the weekend. First year, big contract, big city. It happens. Well, he'd better figure it out because I'm not looking forward to 14 1/2 more years of this.

  21. ESPN decided that this was going to be the 'Aaron Judge is so great and he's playing against Juan Soto and nobody else' game and they're going to stick with that narrative regardless of what happens.
  22. Too bad, the Mets hit him pretty good.
  23. Depends on how the person left. Sometimes it's clear that the Mets are willing to let a person walk. If they sign somewhere else, they get cheered the first time, then after that they're just another opposing player. deGrom's an example. Took more money than the Mets were willing to offer, and godspeed. When he pitches at Citi, he'll get a tribute video and cheered. If he's ever healthy enough to pitch at Citi, that is. If a player doesn't give the Mets a chance, bolts and talks shit on his way out the door, he gets booed. If it's somewhere in the middle, I lean toward not ever booing. It's a biznis, and players, agents and front offices do what they have to.
