  1. Mendoza pushing all the right buttons so far. Even when they screw up (Acuna tagged out at 3rd), they fix it (Lindor following with a run-scoring hit). The Torrens call was the perfect example. Mets look pumped, Phils look lifeless. Of course momentum is only as good as the next day's pitcher, and Wheeler's a tough customer.
  2. Frayed Knot wrote: So it's pretty much official that Diaz is the worst reliever we've got in our pen at this point, no? He's so schizo- gives up the homer to Stott and then makes Trey Turner and Bryce Harper look foolish. Diaz is a real box o' chocolates this year- you never know what you're gonna get....
  3. Jeff McNeil cannot play CF, full stop. Acuna might be able to pull it off, but not Jeff. If McNeil is playing the outfield, it's in left, with Nimmo sliding over to center.
  4. Well, interesting, but not in a good way.
  5. Kranick on for the 3-inning save. Interesting.
  6. Taylor hustling made that possible. But imagine the kind of year Lindor can have if he doesn't start out cold.
  7. That's a big 'hang with 'em' for Winker there.
  8. Megill hits 97 on occasion. Short leash in the 6th, as his pitch count is approaching 90.
  9. Woof. Let's not do that any more, please.
  10. =ashie62 post_id=190330 time=1745279250 user_id=90] Megill looks great tonight
  11. Well, you may love him, but Baty has no place on this team. Vientos is set at third for the foreseeable future, groin irritation permitting. Baty's not a second baseman and looks tentative there. McNeil is the starter, for better or worse. Acuna is the capable backup, not only there, but at short and third as well as being a pinch-runner par excellence. There's no room for Brett Baty. He was given the third base job at the beginning of last year and he gave it back. What he needs is to go back to Syracuse and rake. Then if Vientos or McNeil or Acuna get injured he gets another chance. But you don't turn your team inside out just to get Brett F'n Baty plate appearances. We'll have to disagree. You think Baty needs more time to prove himself. I think he'll be a minor transaction over the winter. So it goes.
  12. Baty's hit AAA pitching well. He has a Triple-A OPS of .899 (and a major league OPS of .601). So it's reasonable to assume he'll hit when he goes to the 'Cuse. What he needs is a chance to play every day, and he's not going to get that with the Mets. There'll be other teams looking for a cheap controllable third baseman this winter. I hope a team gives him a chance and he does well.
  13. Only having one backup infielder necessitates Acuna. Baty can't play shortstop. McNeil has an albatross contract; he's not movable unless you pay off a lot of it. Baty going back down to AAA and tearing it up will raise his value when he's moved in the offseason. Keeping him up and giving him limited at-bats is a waste all around.
  14. It's pretty simple. When McNeil gets back, there won't be any at-bats for Baty. Won't be many for Acuna either, but he's more positionally flexible, a better defender and much faster. The only reason Baty's been getting the at-bats he's getting is because of Jeff's injury.
  15. Sometimes you have to move on from a highly-touted guy that doesn't perform. Fernando Martinez and Lastings Milledge come to mind. Baty's had chances, but never seems to get over the hump. Mark Vientos passed him by. It happens.
  16. Sending Baty to AAA is an easy decision. Same with Senger, the real life Crash Davis. Hope you enjoyed your time in the bigs. When Manaea gets back I'd think they'd go to a 6-man rotation, so you send a reliever down. Young would be most likely, even though he's a lefty.
  17. who Chloe Grace Moretz is a Met-loving actress. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTGjB36ApcKm6YgLxOTWnFhjXE-h3JmgyG7eA&s>
  18. That's why you get the big bux, Juan.
